Freddy has to be one of the most creative and perverted killers ever in horror history, this movie is surreal, dark but clever, great kills. A Classic !!
this was the first and best of the series.more darker and scarier without a a**load of bad puns and one liners like in the last few films,but that doesnt mean i didnt love the other ones
This movie is a classic!! It really is an awesome horror movie.. I'd definitely recommend this to any true fan of horror.. The sequels become more and more comedic as they went on, where as this one was Freddy terrorizing his victims before murdering them.. 5/5

A lot of horror movies age really badly but this one has stood the test of time. its still as creepy and as scary as it was back in the day..you got to love the haunting score too!

I've never seen this movie but grew up hearing people talking about how great it was. Then I watched the trailer of the remake on youtube and read all the angry comments. I didn't understand why people were so mad and already called that remake a terrible idea that could never top the original. So, I decided to watch it. And what I saw amazed me. And here is what I saw. I saw an old horror movie that is in no way relevant anymore or as scary as some of todays' movies. I saw the very typical case of bad acting from the 80s, I saw that ridiculous old horror movie concept where the dumb virgin is safe while the girl that gets laid dies. And on top of all that, I saw all this pinkish blood that might have been scary if only I was still 8. It's one thing to be fond of a movie cos it reminds you of your youth and how scary you and your pals got watching this on your little VCR, but come on, this movie has gotten so old. If a scary movie is not scary anymore, if a horror movie looks like a ride in the park compared to the latest horror movie, then what's left beside Johnny depp terrible haircut?
Lolz, I am staying up the entire weekend (60 hours) with my friend and we are watching all the elm street, fiday the 13 and any horror films we can tink of to scare the .. out of ourselves, sleep deprivation plus horror movies= terrifyingly awesomeness
Still the best movie of its time and type! Always good to see an actor have fun with his/her role as Robert England does in this one. This is on my slasher movie playlist.
One of the best films of its time!! An absolute cult classic!! I wish the fools in Hollywood would get a brain and come up with something new.You know the old saying "If it ain't broke dont fix it". Why would they remake this movie? Their just gonna ***** it up just like Halloween and Friday the 13th!! NOW THAT WOULD BE A NIGHTMARE!!
Yeah, I wish they could remake it good though, just better quality effects and whatnot. The music is a little corny 8-bit sounding but I think they should keep the exact same script, camera angles and everything, even Freddy's "christmas" sweater.
This must be my favourite horror film of all time! The first time I watched this with some friends downstairs in the dark basement. We were all petrified when we saw Freddy Kreuger for the first time and we shut off the movie and ran upstairs, ha ha! A few years later, I decided to give the movie another chance and I LOVE IT! This Nightmare on Elm Street is definitely better than all the sequels, but I am looking forward to the remake next year!
I don't know why everyone is freaking out about a new guy playing Freddy Kreuger because if you ask me, it's time for a change!

The lead actress, what terrible acting. Gotta say, Krueger's sense of humour was the one thing that helped make this movie so popular. Otherwise, I thought I'd watch this for a laugh..and laugh I did.
