A couple who is expecting their first child travel around the U.S. in order to find a perfect place to start their family. Along the way, they have misadventures and find fresh connections with an assortment of relatives and old friends who just might help them discover "home" on their own terms for the first time.
It was ok but it wasn't great and I didn't hear anything really funny. They said and did some stuff for shock value because obviously they knew it was mostly crap.
This movie was simply amazing. A slice of life. I found myself so moved throughout. I felt like a voyeur watching two people navigating through life like we all do and trying to fit in without losing themselves. Beautiful.
I enjoyed this movie very much! The acting was excellant and I found the story line to be very intriging. There were a few nut cases, but take it from a family full of nut cases that is actually the norm these days!! I loved it but I would have liked to see it continue a little longer. But just like real life you never know what the future may hold!! Great Job!! 5/5
Cute film that tackles a very weighty subject {no, not just pregnancy!} the anxieties of starting a family, of being in love, of losing parents, of just trying to get it right on the one pass around that we get and how really ridiculous and overwhelming it can all seem.
Some great laughs from Maggie Gylenhall, good writing and performances all around.
Most important, John Krasinski in his jammies. Yes!!
Away We Go is highly sentimental and it is about finding a place to belong in a world that doesn't make it easy, and it is also about the high anxiety of becoming a parent. These are two good subjects, but the payoff is weak. During my viewing of this film, I was asking myself if "Away We Go" was a movie out of time. It seemed that with a few tweaks (here and there) it could pass for a movie in the 1970s, so, this is kind of a hippie movie from the 21st century. Of note, people in hippie movies seem to never be concerned with money. Most of the supporting cast was hit-or-miss with many of the notable actors seemingly out of place. But, there was one huge payoff and that was watching a very gifted actress, Maya Rudolph, show her acting chops. She has an emotional honesty here that most performers never achieve in a lifetime so I am wondering what she will do next. Overall, I gave this 3½ out of 5 stars.
There were some extremely funny bits in this movie. Glad I watched it. A nice, simple and honest couple who aren't as dysfunctional as they thought - their friends and families show them that everyone has 'stuff', some more than others and most more than them. And they find what they went searching for wasn't too far off in the first place. Beautiful ending.
This couple seems so lost in the beginning yet through their trip, they seem to find peace and contentment. All their encounters seem to show them what matters most to each of them. Surprisingly simple in it's presentation.. everyday life of a wide variety of couples. Good movie.
At first I was like, huh? 'Cause I saw the movie in the theatre with my aunt and uncle and was totally embarassed to be in the same theatre as them. But then it was absolutely amazing! The movie inspired in the audience (yes, we were all unified in our emotions, I swear) almost every emotion possible.
I seriously would give this movie a round 100/100! Ingenious creation, endearing till the very end!
Very slow but they draw you in as you get to know them. I always have trouble relating to people that leave things to be spoken/discussed until another time etc. Which lead to Maya Rudolph's character annoying me a bit, however, it is understandable once you realize what she has had to live with.
The supper table scene with Maggie Gyylennhaal in itself makes this movie so worth watching.
because couples love eachother enough to get married so the decide its the next step in there relationship, then a year down the line there wanting a devorce, marrage just changes and complicats things..in my oppinion =]
A wedding is a religious and/or legal ceremony that costs a ton of money to put on a big show and depending on where you live being married costs you more in taxes and medical expenses in the years to come than it would have if you didn't. Simply put, marriage is a relic from an era gone by and is no longer a ticket to financial security. Besides when people are truly in love they don't need to hold a ritual to prove it to themselves and the world.
movie was great on all accounts acting directing and most of all the story it was all real world problems portrayed here few messages where we went wrong i loved it because of realism and how plain it was i would recommend this film to all ages and colours best watched with family and friends
( the things this couple went through the talks they had worries they had was just too real which goes through every parents head )
Am I the only one that expected to see an orange tree at the very end in the back yard all full of oranges?
Very interesting movie. Gave it a 4.5/ 5.0 I liked the parents & how they just didn't care about them piratically at all. They were doing there own thing regardless. As far as the rest of the twisted wacko's in this movie go, there really is a lot of people out there like that I was really bummed about the orange tree as well
get why you might be bummed but I think that the orange tree in the end just symbolises that this place will bear fruit for them and they did indeed belong there even though it was not needed.
I love the realism of this film there is a lesson in every situation presented both for the audience and the couple. I loved they way they loved each other it was honest and true and sad. It is a closer reflection of crappy life can be sometimes but somehow they make it work. I loved everything about it. The script could have used a little tweaking for some scenes but no one is perfect. I think that the orange tree in the end just symbolises that this place will bear fruit for them and they did indeed belong there.
