The Coens first movie together. They wrote and directed it and it is an early showcase for their talents as it has such a brilliant and yet simple plotline, based on the confusion which can arise when people don't talk to each other.
The storyline is very slow to unfold, but stick with it as it turns out to be very good indeed, a neo-noir crime film, and the directorial debut of Joel and Ethan Coen. The film's title derives from Dashiell Hammett's novel Red Harvest, in which "blood simple" is a term coined to describe the bewildered, fearful mindset people are in after a long-lasting immersion in vicious situations, a very apt title that describes the mood of this film.
Not bad at all. It has a film noir style, and characters are weird, great visuals and nice story. First film of Coen Brothers, and I mean considering it was made in 1984 it is pretty good.
Unfortately links dont work properly, and you will go nuts if you try watching second half :)) It totally spoiled it for me!!!!
This is a great film for a few young filmmakers to start on. This film is a bit more pristine than their newer, more mature in the process, films. I do not see how anyone could watch it and not feel as if they were watching a couple of powerhouses emerging. A solid picture that I would recomend. 3.90/5.0
