I was told to see this movie by friend. The beginning was kind of slow to me, but I ended up enjoying the movie. I like how there was some romance mixed in and in the end Wallace still wins. This movie made me more curious about the real William Wallace, so yes it is historically inaccurate, but it impelled me to find out more about the real Wallace.
At first I had many chances to watch this, but I just ignored it because I figured it was simply another old timer war movie, but one night where there was nothing to watch, I just watched it for the sake of being not bored.
It is truly a wonderful movie, wonderfully directed. If you're looking for hardcore G.I. Joe action, then this is not your movie, even though there are some pretty intense battles. This is one of those inspirational war movies, with the epic music score.This movie talks about sacrifice, unity, teamwork, revenge, and what I liked about it most is the gung ho, we-will-not-be-bullied-around attitude. A lot of movies will try to take the diplomatic way out, but in the 12th century, who cares?
Mel Gibson plays a strong and emotional character in this movie, and he has all these sexy muscles that you won't see in Lethal Weapon, haha.

This is one of the best movies ever made, and happens to be in my top 5 favorite of all times. It has everything, action, history, romance. Amazing movie! Mel Gibson is a genius.
I was told multiple times to see this film, but got bored after the first five minutes. Watching longer made me realize what all of the fuss is about. Great movie.
Mel gibson may of been a little to old to play the young wallace.but you quickly forget that and get drawn into gibsons version of scotland ..This is brutal and epic with some great battle scenes .
ok the historical facts may be all wrong but its the story that matters and this has a fantastic story.. great soundtrack too..its one of those movies that stands up very well to repeat viewings also ..5/5 10/10
Not disrespectin the m8 Mel Gibson.. but FYI today be the death day of "Sir" William Wallace! if he had survived and lived a full life "Scotland" would be Scotland! and there would be No such a thing as United Kingdom .. just England-Scotland-Ireland Bless yer Honour Sir Wallace! I still ave me heart to ye!
I dont know if im misreading your post..but FYI william wallace died august 23,1305.. Scotland and England werent united (Wales and England were by 1284, Statute of Rhuddan) until 1707..He had to have died the way he did or Scotland would've disappeared 400 years prior and just became part of England.. GREAT MOVIE!
One of the best films made. I loved it. Much better than Gladiator. Great script soundtrack directing acting sceneryand action. This movie has it all! One of the few movies I have seen more than once Check out the Patriot also. Shows off Mel Gibson as the reluctant historic hero

and understand you dont kno truth from facts because the governments are blurring the line between lies and facts
Also..the bagpipes on the sound track are not really bag pipes. They are Ulian Pipes. They have a different tone and are cranked with the arm. You don't blow into them.
if you want to learn history,go to the library my dear.this is just a film!they take some little thing from history and they built their story around it.like in all the stupid films they make about Ancient Greece or Rome.Plus,since this is a site that provides movies,maybe we should stick to our opinion about the film itself.

This movie is a masterpiece, when I first saw it in theaters I knew it would be an instant classic.. Mel Gibson, whether you love him or hate him is a great actor and this movie sealed his legacy as a great actor.. 10/10..
No matter how many times I watch this film and despite the usual directors need to change some facts in history I consciously think "What a Great Film" at the end, it is, without doubt, one of the best of it's kind and will remain a timeless classic.

This movie created a new standard for war n battle movies if it couldnt compare are be better (like 300..shh!! sorry Mel Gibson) it wasn't worth the watch. 5/5 all time must see
as I wrote under an other comment,if you want to learn history,ditch Hollywood films and go to a library.there you can really learn the history that lies beneath the plot .Now,about the film..If you like epic/heroic stories,well,this is it!! Lots of fighting and great scenery!!It's very,very nice.
