I was happily surprised to see this film listed here - I have not watched this for years, and it is every bit as good now as then. Redford and Newman are great together, two of the best actors of all-time(well, modern times, at least). Well worth the time to watch, I'm glad I took the time to watch it again! 4/5
This movie and The Outlaw Josey Wales are the two movies that got me addicted to Westerns. This movie was dynamic and would not have worked without Redford and Newman. Must see: Rate: 10/10
Paul Newman and Robert Redford had probably the best on screen chemistry in "buddy" films I've ever seen in my opinion.
You really get this sense that they're friends and have that relationship.
This movie is a tribute to their craft. A classic and a cherished memory for me.
Paul Newman was a class act!

What makes this film so good is the chemistry between Newman and Redford. Newman gives his charm to the part of Butch (which is easy to relate to for men and women love him) and Redford was just starting out in his career. All of Redford's best roles would be ahead of him. Butch is quite amusing when he tosses his bike and says "The future is all yours, you lousy bicycles" The success of this film has been replicated in other 'buddy' films and became a template for a style not seen in previous westerns. All in all, 5/5 stars. Don't miss this one.
