An intriguing and moving true story. Incredible performance from Russell Crowe, one of the best actors around right now. Also Renee Zellweger, who I confess I hadn't ever seen in a film before, was brilliant. And Paul Giamatti was awesome too.
The story is mainly focused on personal life problems and just struggling to get by, which I believe adds so much more to the actual boxing fight scenes; this is about fighting for survival, for family, simply to put a meal on the table every night. Last half hour was possibly the most intense and dramatic half hour I've ever seen in a film.
I was recommended this film by a friend and what a recommendation it was.
Take it from someone who doesn't even care about boxing - this film is 5 stars all the way.

I had never heard of Jim before, but si glad i have now.
Just super, i can't think of a good enough word for it.
Had me drawn into the movie right from the start, and had me on the edge of my seat at the end.

Russel Crowe gives an astonishing performance once again.
Stunningly well done. Russell Crowe and Renée Zellweger bring the storied tragedies and triumphs of James Braddock to life. Braddock truly was Cinderella Man in 1935, and in 2008 this movie is a very rare FIVE for me. Although the film was, in my view, a bit unfair to Max Baer, "Cinderella Man" is one of the best movies you'll ever see, and you need not be a boxing aficionado to be thrilled with it. Highest recommendations.
Great boxing movie story wise fight wise overall great 9.5/10 easy. JUST DONT JUDGE IT BY THE NAME LIKE I DID B4 WATCHING IT CUZ U'LL MISS A GREAT MOVIE.
