The Bug Shoulda Got The Annoying Prick On The Camera
what would have made this movie infinitly better(besides having it filmed normally) is when they were down in the subway tunnel and they got attacked by bugs if the bug that attacked the camera guy was a better shot and killed him i was so rooting for the bug there at that moment
quite entertaining. the hand held camera and its operator were annoying but I still liked this movie. The "monster destroys the city "thing hasnt been done for a while and I thought their approach was pretty good. I thought the lead actress was hot. but the characters seemed a bit unbelievable. still the movie was entertaining
GOOD Story:) BAD Idea with the camera;(.. This would have been a great movie if they would of did it normally.. the could of filmed it like "war of the worlds" with Tom Cruise.
anyone who had anything to do with this should be taken to a field..the amount of money spent on this too..the filming style is not new or groundbreaking..a total waste of time all round
wow..I mean..WOW..never seen a monster movie from that perspective.Although there are some parts that I didnt like or understand overall a very good movie.5/5!!
i luv this movie, this is my 3rd time seeing it. the action,the hand held cam, i love it. i like the ending too, i hate when movies explain where there creature or monster comes from. sometimes it's better left to the imangination, in my opinion. 5/5
ok so after u get past some things that are highly unlikely and look at the movie for what it is: fiction. it is pretty good. i put off looking at this movie for a whole year b/c i was convinced it was downright stupid but i must say its pretty good. 4/5
This is so much better the second time around! Especially since I increased the contrast and the brightness to nearly 100% I think the glimpse of the monster and its body parts are a good way to make it even more frightening. I have decided that the monster is a

hybrid mixture of a bearded dragon, bat, grasshopper on steroids with a spider also on steroids thrown in

There are 2 of the 'Cloven' monsters, there is a reason behind why they're attacking New York - basically a satellite landed in the sea, (can be seen at the end when they're on the ferris wheel in the background)) this disrupted the monsters.
The suspenseful level was overall good. I really enjoyed the part

when they were walking on the building..ohh
that kept me on my feet. Also, the graphics of the

creature and movie
were awesome.
Although there are a lot of parts that left me wondering which gave the movie experience a downer. The simple fact

that when the girl was bitten by the species and was taken to the military facility why did none of her friends ask why the soldiers overreacted when they noticed she was bitten. That kinda pissed me off. Did she turn into one of the things or would she become a zombie..who knows, but there should have been some clarification behind that plot.
I also did not like how

the guy that as was going to japan basically got most of his friends killed because he wanted to save this one chick..which in the end they both died together.
But other then that the movie was pretty good. Would watch again.
wanted to see this movie when it hit the theatres but never got around to it. then read these comments below before watching this which lowered my expectations. but i really enjoyed this movie. the dude hangin onto camera the whole time was alil annoying and an idiot, but thats my only problem. loved the explosions, thought they showed enough of the monster, and thought it had a nice bittersweet ending.
This movie has many great points. Although the shaky cam can get annoying to some viewers, I'm one of the people who love shaky cam flicks. And this one is great. It hardly shows the creature which does give you that suspense that you're looking for. And the story telling was great. A must watch for any fan of movies!
Right off from the bat, anyone that hates watching film produces from a handicam, will hate the film.
Nevertheless, if you can get pass the erratic camera movement -- it is entertaining in it own right and worthy of the silver screen.
Our novice heros try to do the right thing by traversing in harms way for love and friendship -- all of which is document by a guy with a portable video camera.
I give this movie three stars for creativity and unique story telling.
The 1st movie of its kind to be filmed this way with such a big budget. Love how the storyteller role is passed on in a total chaotic passing of responsibilty.

Look out for the monster diving in the ocean when the TV report is on at the bottom of the screen. Hard spot
I expected a whole lot more before I watched it. It's okay. The shakey camera sure gets annoying at a point, but it's an interresting way to make a movie.
