Wow I loved it anbd the fact that its a whole stop motion animation movie it makes the movie even better :D I mean how much work they had to put into this? WOW. Great story and cast :D 10/10
I am so glad tht I waited til there was a really good copy to see this film. I enjoyed it so much more. Interesting animation, not my favorite, but still it was entertaining.

Wow all the morals in this movie i don't know where to start I give this movie5/5 stars this movie was nothing less than awesome you would think at 34 I should be watching more adult flicks this movie was good and wholesome. I was wrong thinking it was a Tim Burton film so plz excuse me. I really liked it and might buy it for my daughter who is now 2 1/2 years old hoping she might get the same messages i did THIS IS A MUST SEE FOR KIDS OF ALL AGES :)
Excellent, Not Best For Really Little Kids, Though
A very good blend of recognizable motifs from previous movies, like Nightmare Before Christmas, and new elements sure to become favorites. Somehow dark and heartwarming at the same time in the way only Tim Burton can be.
Reading through the comments, you begin to get kind of annoyed at how many naive people think this is a Tim Burton film. If it had been a Tim Burton film in the first place--it would have been advertised as "Tim Burton's", just like the rest of his movies are. "Tim Burton's "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "Tim Burton's "Sweenie Todd," "Tim Burton's "Sleepy Hollow" "Tim Burton's "The Nightmare Before Christmas" or even "A "Tim Burton" Film"..
I think most people who say they like Tim Burton have only seen the Nightmare Before Christmas, honestly. Because if you'd seen all of his other movies, including ones like Planet of the Apes, Batman and Batman Returns, as well as Edward Scissorhands.. you would realize that while this may seem similar to his style--it is really is not like his style at all.
The people that mention Tim Burton are a bit mixed up only because this movie was directed by the same man who directed The Nightmare Before Christmas. Thats where people get lost. Eventhough The Nightmare.. was written and produced by Tim Burton, he did not direct it. Henry Sleck directed that movie as he did this movie. So thats where the confussion comes from.
k, I would still call it a Tim Burton film though
You see the continuing type of dark style and art that was like in nightmare before chrismas and Edward scissor hands. Even if he didn't directly direct it, it still things from his head. The only film I would not classify under Burton would be 9, where he was not the only guy coming up with storyline and so on. (that was a disappointing film, er)
By the way, this film is actually based on a book, so the story is not an original children bed-time horror, yet you could once more tell the images were from Burton's head.
Burton had absolutely nothing to do with this film. The Nightmare Before Christmas was a shared project between Selick and Burton.. this, however, is solely Henry's work.
I love this movie. I just so happened upon the book at a used bookstore for 1.00. I found it in the children's section when I was 16, and was really considering laughing at the idea of buying it and skippin on over to the horror novel section. BUUTT I took the chance, and invested in one of the best purchases ever. I loved this book and have read it over and over again..I hoped one day they would make it into a movie, but didn't think my prayers would be answered. 2 years later TADAA. Coraline comes out. I even actually half a half sleeve tattoo with Coraline, her cat, and doll on it..soo you can tell I really adore this movie :] Book and movie are great. It has such a good message behind it really,
I was honestly slightly surprised by this movie. It was not bad at all, I really enjoyed it. Man, I really loved the music in this movie the most. It was a creepy kinda peaceful sound. Hard to describe. Good trippy alice kinda feel to it. Worth the watch for sure. You gotta like Tim Burton's work to really enjoy it though. Otherwise you'd just find it random and wierd.

Henry selick was the directer of Nightmare before Christmas and he was both director and producer of coraline
and it says in the trailer "from the director of nightmare before christmas" not the producer
Yes--he was indeed the director and a producer for the film "the Nightmare Before Christmas", but the reason they so vaguely stated it as such is because they knew the film would receive more publicity if they put in a link so well-associated with Tim Burton. Obviously stupid fans, fans who don't do the research, would confuse this for a Tim Burton film when the true fans know otherwise.
It's a tipical Burton i guess. dark and mystical..also had something to say, some conclusion in the end. The visual things could be scary for a child (in my opinion) as the Tim Burton movies used to be.

This is not a Tim Burton film. It is solely a Henry Selick film. Henry Selick and Tim Burton co-directed/produced the movies "James and the Giant Peach," as well as "the Nightmare Before Christmas." But Burton did not have any part whatsoever in the making of "Coraline."
An imaginative surreal tale, with morals. I loved the characters, and the all star cast for the voices were excellent; especially Teri Hatcher, who was wonderfull. I liked the short but striking homage to Van Gogh. All in all a very enjoyable film, which I highly recommend anyone to watch. Try it, you just might like it as much as I did! 9/10.
I liked it, it was interesting. The animation style was a bit darkish and will remind you of Tim Burton (which I found a little unoriginal), I'm really not sure if little kids should watch this since there are some scenes that seemed to be a little too creepy, even for me as an adult. But all in all is a nice movie, worth to watch and really good.
I must say, this was a very enjoyable movie. Supremely good and such a lovely story line. Just my question, it this a snap shot movie or animation? Cause it felt like I was watching dolls like Wallace & Gromit! Which also have really good stuff.
I gave it 5/5, I loved it! Next stop, the dvd shop to buy this awesome movie ^__^
Yes indeed- just to clear this up, this is not a tim burton film, but wonderfully done! this was just as surpurb as the G.Novel. Spooky and Creepy! I Love It.
well i expected a kids movie..but it was anything but.. it was actually rather scary..parents beware this is not a childs movie..theres certain things said done and worn lol..that you might not want your child to hear..i mean id let my kids watch i got to watch stuff like this as a child and turned out fine lol thats why. anyways i didnt enjoy it as much as i thought i would. but oh well.. worth the watch anyways if your a tim burton fan..which hello who isnt? lol
