This takes place several years before the malicious movie (starring Sarah Michelle Gellar), back to when Kathryn first meets Sebastian, their sexual attraction to each other and their enjoyment in destroying the lives of their peers.
You obviously missed the whole point. This isn't a love movie, hence the title Cruel Intentions. The first movie is loosely based on the French 16th century novel, Les Liaisons dangereuses, which was made into a movie in the 1930's and remade in 1988 as Dangerous Liasons with Glen Close, Michelle Pfeiffer, and John Malkovich. From the latter movie, Cruel Intentions was based and transplanted from France to a New York setting with high school studenta as the protagonists which the writer has said, "are the cruelest creatures."
Coming into this movie not expecting much, I was impressed. It actually wasn't bad. 3 stars out of 5. Being a prequel it makes you understand how Sebastian became how he was in the second movie. The twist at the end was good. I did NOT see that coming. It shows the evolution of his character coming into a family that doesn't really want him or know what love is about(the family). He wants love and when he thinks he has it..great set-up for the original movie. I recommend that people see this one first, then the one with Ryan Phillippe afterwards.
It reminds you that George Lucas had to make that crappy Phantom Menace on his way to the other prequels so you know how Anakin became Darth. Just like I recommend the 3rd prequel, Revenge of the Sith before A New Hope.
I've seen Cruel intentions 2 three times and I recommend it to anyone.
..like most sequels, this one just falls flat. There's nothing really great about it. The acting was kind of .. and the story line was crap with an ending that just unpolitely slaps you in the face with stupidity. Bad movie.
