Great 70's movie and an interesting true story. Sidney Lumet did an excellent job directing, keeping it as realistic as possible and focusing solely on the characters, nothing was melodramatic or over the top. It's not your typical bank robbery film. Pacino was brilliant, as was the rest of the cast.
Superb for its time..4.5/5 rating.
Pacino was phenomenal back then and so was John Cazale..if you have never seen this movie yet then don't hesitate, watch it!! , and don't be put off by the movies age its a classic 5/5 10/10

it had everything, i laughed, cried and felt sorry for the robbers, brilliant true story and now has become my favorite al pacino movie ever, and ive seen pretty much all of em

Good Al Pacino film but lets not forget John Cazale. He died young as an actor but was a brilliant in the 70's. Dog Day afternoon as some have commented puts you right into the two bank robbers' world. You can cut the tension with a knife. Check out another earlier Al Pacino film, Panic in Needle Park.

This was and still is a great movie. For a bank robbery movie you expect more action and bullets but this had none of that. You are brought into the character of Pacino's and start to hope for him a little. Movie was made when acting outdid special effects. Definitely worth the watch.
