Very nice film with 2 actors that just plain and simple know what they are doing, with writers that equally know what they are doing. Owen and Roberts have perfect chemistry and alotta charm. its too bad this medicated society doesnt have the attention span to enjoy films like this that dont have chase scenes and tired redundant special Fx throughout the whole film.
this was a very good movie though i had to put it together myself the copy that i watched didn't have the time date stamps in English took me a minute to figure out the direction
alot of this flick just didnt make sense or add up right.. if the two executives really hated each other assault charges couldve been filed right after beginning credits. and then the two pro con people were awful careless, in thier free time.. i sat thru entire thing hopeing it would get better, it never did, i actually could see julia roberts age onscreen. if your a die hard julia roberts fan you may like this. its a cross between a chick flick, and a crappy spy movie. tried to be intelligent movie, but just turned out dumb.
i had to watch it in 4 or 5 parts , because i always fell a sleep. And when i finished watching the whole thing , i got upset on myself for wasting all that time, another crappy movie i don't recommend is Race to witch mountain, this time i did not watch it entirely , thank God i learned a lesson from watching Duplicity, the lesson was don't watch movies that start really crappy, they will not get better as plot goes on, DEFINITELY.
damn right banal plot , this movie really bites, and i don't recomend watching it not even for the actors, because they did not succed making a bad movie better, than it's plot is
I rather enjoyed this movie and its innate symbolism to the greatest deception of all mankind.. the "Adam and Eve" bible event. I believe it was Eve who took the bait and Adam willfully followed, a similarity to Julia Roberts' character Claire. Deception and duality.. a classic tale and good movie. P.O.P
I am not sure which way to go with this. I enjoyed this movie, but was left disappointed. I agree that it was a good plot, good acting and lots of little twists. But yet it does seem to be lacking. For one,,, two extremely intelligent people in this business are not going to leave certain things undiscovered, even mediocre spies know when to observe. So the characters were not living up to their supposed potential. the little nuances that lead to the let down of an ending were just ridiculous. And the other side was just not involved enough in the plot to give the viewer a chance to get in on the trump. Although a bit short it was a good watch, 7/10 and of course just looking at Clive is always a pleasure. The Perfect Getaway is probably more my cup of tea.
it was worth a watch but would never watch it again it was very smart and kept me guessing on what would happen next and that is the kind of movies i like to watch i would give this 7/10
I THOUGHT THIS WAS AN EXTREMELY ENTERTAINING FILM. I PUT OFF WATCHING IT BECAUSE OF REVIEWS AND COMMENTS. BUT I GAVE IN MAINLY BECAUSE I'VE MISSED JULIA AND THIS WAS A GOOD MOVIE. I'M TIRED OF THE SO-CALLED HORROR FILMS THAT ARE ALL THE SAME, THE ACTION FLICKS THAT BORE TO TEARS, ETC. I WON'T MORE THOUGHT PROVOKING MOVIES LIKE THIS AND "STATE OF PLAY".
I was absolutely shocked at the 6.6 rating so I came to see some of the comments on the film. This movie was superb. A lot of people commenting just don't get the film at all. I bet you they probably don't even know what duplicity means when they put in their comments much less understand the plot of the film. This movie is ingenius from storyline to acting to editing. Wonderful without any doubt!
duplicity is a smart, smart movie. if only there was more action than talking, planning and out-smarting each other, it would be a less boring watch for others. but for me, it was cleverly written and played. Clive Owen, is fantastic.
the movie was not that great, it was boring and confusing which is not a good mix, the movie felt like it was trying too hard but just failed..i just watched it because of julia and clive, other than that the movie was just not worth watching!!
Was an ok movie. I was not fully entertained. I love Julia no matter what but I like her in comedys more I guess. Not the best but I liked it anyways. 4/5
