This movie seemed like another cliched action movie that's been done to death. Family held hostage until father who works at a bank acts as an inside man and steals/helps steal from the bank. If you've seen a movie like this once, you've seen it a million times. Dull. It's so obvious its boring. Let's not beat a horse that is dead, okay?
If theres one thing i hate in a thriller is when the main character and the villian just dont do the things that u and i would do and Firewall thankfully isnt one of them. i love the ideas the director puts in place with some really nice editing that cuts very sharp and keeps ur mind from wandering. im a sucker 4 thillers that show us exactly what the hero sees as its happening, how can u not like that? plus victims that dont wait around to be killed but think of real smart stradegies to stay alive but with a real clever bad guy thats right on top of things.
Really a very good film, a lot of suspense and high quality action, great plot, it will keep you on edge to the end. Harrison Ford was great as usual, but acting was very good by all. Certainly recommend it ! 4.5/5
There is a level of competence to Firewall that's missing in most modern thrillers. The characters and action are moderately believeable and when it ended, I was satisfied. It wasn't like when I walked out of Flightplan thinking about all of the ridiculous flights of fancy that the movie took. The problem is that thrillers like Firewall, The Sentinel, Cellular, or whatever are OK for a one-time rental or viewing on HBO, but they're so mediocre and utterly forgettable. How many ways can you tell a story where an Everyman gets kidnapped, or his family gets kidnapped, or he's forced to do something against his will, or he's accused of a crime he didn't commit, and he has to overcome all odds to save them/himself? It's just a tired genre.
