Pretty easy going. A little bit of action but nothing major.
Well acted with a decent story.
I know my comment indicates a mediocre film but I really enjoyed it and I am giving it a fab five*
This was the perfect movie for a rainy and cold day.
The tone of the film had that "Fargo" feel. This movie had the desperation mode turned way up.
Good performance by Melissa Leo.
Her portrayal of a woman in a desperate situation grabbed me so much that I was compelled to look up her Filmography to assure myself that she was working and not hard up for money. lol
A chilly depiction of a mother and her desire to get up after life knocks her down. 'Frozen River' is by far the movie of the year for 2008, going above and beyond the 2009 films that stole the Oscars because of economic politics. I found it strange majority of those that won were lame, how convenient they were all still in theaters?!...hmm lets go see one that won an award, I know I did.
There are many pieces of fools gold, real gold, then there are hidden gems underneath super hits such as Transformers, or Batman. The arts are always overwhelmed with louder noises and a fast tempo. So when time is slowed down and your living in a pocket of reality for 90 minutes, the experience is unsettling for the reaction of human emotion can be bothersome. Normally we're injected into the seat of a hero or some unreal screenplay of fantasy, and our emotions are only engaged when a character dies. I dont know any hobbits, super cops or mutant robotic saviors. What I am familiar with, is the struggle of the single mother and the hardships of poverty. This triumphant film is almost a documentary, with perfect camera angles, an amazing cast, the overall production is perfect . 10/10
Good story, performance n everything. Love dramas like this even tho I'd never heard of it. It should remind u to be grateful for what u have.

Yea, its a one-time watch but its nicely done. I really cant say what i want to say without giving some of it away but it really goes to show you how some people are really struggling and end up taking risks just to get by. Its well worth 4/5.
Enjoyable. I found the end, surprising, and refreshing. I also, enjoy accurate portrayals, of real-life struggle, in America. I will see this again, but on DVD.
A valueable lesson on how some people have to live in this country. Give to charity .. you never know when you maybe the one needing the help. Excellant movie !! 5/5
A bleak and organic account of an emotionally scared working class woman, struggling to make a better life for her two sons, in the face of financial adversity. Courtney Hunt’s film delivers the humanistic touch by exposing the things we don’t want to do, but do them anyway so that we may move forward. The story centres around two women who meet through disagreeable circumstances yet it soon becomes clear that they both have something to offer each other. It is through this unusual pairing that both women begin to find hope in their otherwise bleak existence.
The performances of Melissa Leo and Misty Upham are a work of art, their portrayal of each character is so convincing with no detail left unturned. Frozen River is by no means glamorous, but it will make you think more about the life you have. Overall, this is effortless viewing that is beautifully organic, fused together by a strong sense of human nature that is compelling to the end. 9/10.
Frozen River is absolutely fantastic! Great storyline, great acting, great everything. It is a very intense film and is well worth the watch. 3 1/2 of 4 stars!
This Courtney did an excellent job! I am only an 8th Cherokee and I am now 6 months pregnant with my first baby by a Native American guy who is half Cherokee.. I don't know if it was the hormones or what.. LOL but,this movie touched me from beginning to end! This movie made me thankful and made me appreciate my guy so much more! I love these types of rare films that touch you in your own life and really make you think and be happy for what you really have!! 5 out of 5 stars for me :)
