I LIKED THIS MOVIE, GOOD STORYLINE, AND GREAT CAST I MEAN GOSLING DID A GREAT JOB AS ALWAYS, U REALLY FEEL THAT HE'S FALLIN APART LITTLE BY LITTLE UNTIL THE END OF THE MOVIE; AND THE GIRL TO DID AN OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE!! BY HER SITUATION SHE'S ASKING AINTERESTING QUESTION LIKE "COULD I END A GOOD PERSON??" EVEN IF ALL THE POEPLE WHO SHOULD BE A MODEL FOR HER R NOT A GOOD EXAMPLES ( ADDICT TEACHER, BROTHER IN JAIL, MOTHER ABSENT, AND A MENTOR DEALER..
saw this film on tv, thought it sounded good and it ended up being a top film. its a good show on how teachers r like the rest of us and do get caught up in bad situations
I will say that this film may have needed a liitle more punch it may be lacking just a couple of scenes or something but nevertheless it had a great storyline, WONDERFUL acting and great direction. I love originality and if someone can't appreciate films like this for whatever reason then I recommend you sit around and watch Good Burger while you wait for your next Vin Diesel piece of sh*t to come out. 8/10
Like afew others I'm not fully sure whether I liked this film or not, the acting was great and I understood the message that the writer was trying to put across, but I think it needed a better storyline perhaps..
Nevertheless, I love Ryan Gosling, he's a great actor and every film I've seen him in I've enjoyed alot.
I do agree that the friendship was odd but so were all the other curcumstances..I really liked this film and I think it is mainly because of how well acted it was.
This movie I stumbled upon on accident but decided to watch it anyway, which I am glad I did. This is an incredible film and Ryan Gosling is amazing in it. Takes you on an emotional roller coaster that you won't want to get off. This dramatic yet heartfelt movie is highly recommended to all and will be on my list of favorite movies. A+A+
There's not much excitement in this movie, don't get me wrong it's a great movie! But- it ends in a stupid place that keeps you wondering what happened to them. I thought it was gonna be more exciting, with more drama! I give it a 4/5
I have to say 92% of the oscar noms were in the Fall and the Winter, but this was the only film in the summer. Half Nelson is about a drug dealer who's secret is exposed to a kid. Ryan Gosling and the rest of the unknown cast all deserve a nom at the oscars. This year the noms for Best Picture are: Babel, Little Miss Sunshine, The Queen, Letters from Iwo Jima and The Departed and honestly I think Little Miss Sunshine should be taken of the list and it should be replaced with this oscar alert about drugs. This film is so entertaining I think it's the best independent film of the year besides The Last King of Scotland. Ryan Gosling from Half Nelson has a nom for Best Actor and even though he doesn't deserve the award because Leo DiCaprio (Blood Diamond) was better I am recommeding it to all fans of dramas about lies, secrets and betrayal. See this film and on Feb. 13th, 2007 buy this film right away and watch it the night you get it. Here's my top ten list and you'll see how good Half Nelson really is.

I don't if i liked this movie, the ending doesn't give you much. But Ryan Gosling did a wonderful job with his role, so i have to blame it on the story line.
Its rolls like this, that makes Ryan Gosling one of my all time favorite actors. The story line was interesting, and the friendship between the characters was a bit odd but it worked somehow. Both actors, i think anyway, played thier characters to a 'T' and gave what i think was the appropriate amount of emotion that the characters required.
