I see there are mixed opinions on this movie. I don't care what every one thinks, but I liked it. I thought it'd be a heavy romance movie set during WW2, but it was such a tragedy with a really 'Head in the Clouds' and character development . On a positive note, obviosly Charlize Theron is an amazing actress, so I give credit to her. On a negative note, there was something very subtle about the setting. At times, it felt forced and theatrical. This is the type of movie u either like, or u don't! It won a BAFTA, as well!
Nasty things happen to very beautiful people, but that's life, especially in the 1930s and 40s. It has much in common with "The Snows of Kilimanjaro" (Gregory Peck & Ava Gardner) without the African bit. Prepare to shed a tear or two.(10/10)
I am so glad i finally watched this one, and the characters were wonderfully crafted and extremely well acted by Charlize Theron, Penelope Cruz, and Stuart Townsend were perfectly cast! I will most def watch this one again, and so it goes on my play list with a 4.5/5!
i expected a better ending. and i'm a little bit disappointed that thomas kretschmann had a small role in here =( anyways..i couldn't really figure out the relationship that was going on in the movie between the characters. but overall it's a good movie but i wouldn't watch it again.
I really did enjoy this movie totally not wot i expected.Im a fan of charlize but even bigger fan of Thomas kretschman he always looks so damn good in a nazi uniform.Another i could watch over and over again.
I really liked this movie. The acting superb, the tension between the characters was just fine. The directing was very light and allowed the characters to develop and tell their story without bashing the viewer. The search for meaning in a meaningless world. This was the time of Satre, Camus and Rand.

You can definitely feel the chemistry and love. It was a
different time and Gilda was a privileged woman with
definite means. She was also a very insecure women who
was afraid to be labeled as something that she found
utterly constraining. Oh..the hills and valleys of life, loss
and love. Great story.
While I'd rate things like the basic story, acting, set direction and costumes as good, I don't think the screenplay was written well at all. Corny lines really bothered me. I also don't think Charlize was all that good in this one. I'm guessing it was just a chance for she and Stuart Townsend to work together. Worth the watch but there are much better out there.
can you be in love with two people at the same time?? my answer to that would be ''oh yess'..and hey, i'm not sure about this sort of relation though..a bit complicated..but the movie and the acting was greatt..4/5
This is a good story, allowing us a glimpse at lavish lifestyles that existed in Europe in the 1930s and early 1940s.. this movie welcomes us into the lives of three very intimate friends.. an Idealistic Irishman named Guy, played by (Stuart Townsend) the tragic Mia, played by (Penelope Cruz).. and lastly the frivolous socialite Gilda, played by (Charlize Theron)
(Cherlize Theron) is totally believable in her role.. playing a women of means who's enjoying a life of independence and freedom, throwing off social constraints... living life on her terms and attempting to remain neutral in the impending war in Europe.. whoever her apolitical stance isn’t shared by her two friends.. who are idealistic leftist.. both complied to fight in the Spanish Civil war.

one of my favorite movies ..thats after fight club.. so that would be top 5 movies …
