i was SO against this film, but it isnt that bad, im not a high school musical freak and i wont refer to it as hsm but its not bad if your wasting time
In less then 10 minutes Im already trying to fast forward it but youtube isnt loading quick enough. This movie is too shallow and boring for me..My sister has been pressuring me to watch this. Ill trust my instincts next time. The lipsinging to lame preppy tunes gives me a headache and the sickening solidarity to school spirit and materialism..A big headache. Made for children I think. Ill remember next time my sister is 12. 2/5 (Only for the preteen exploitation Disney has carried out so completely)
Definitely not my kind of musical. I'm not even sure anyone above the age of 10 would like this movie. High School Musical is Grease meets Saved By The Bell meets Pleasantville: music + squeaky clean high school image with morals + perfect hair, teeth, synchronized dancing, vocals, and clothes = total cheese.
I actually made it through 70 minutes of the movie before giving up. At least in Grease (and Grease II), the characters KNEW they were singing and thought it was "cool". High school is so far from peachy keen and we all know it. Disney could have wrote and produced a much better, relatable musical. 2/5
