Very funny film - fast moving and hilarious script - almost too fast for my American ear - heard good things about the movie and I am glad I watched it - scariest part is this may be how politics works at times 9/10
While this film is funny at the start it tends to weaken as it moves towards the end. It’s like looking at a cream cake in the window of Fortnum and Masons, the anticipation is better than eating it, once it’s gone then the hunger is back!
This film has so much potential however it fizzled out in to the abyss of antipathy melodrama without substance or insight.
This was such a funny film, absolutely brilliant from start to finish. I loved the characters, the comic situations and the obscene language. It all added together to make a very funny and interesting film. I think its probably the best political satire since ''Dr. Strangelove''. I thought it was an outstanding film, would definitely watch it again. 5/5
Being a fan of the TV series 'The Thick Of It' I was looking forward to this movie but found it a bit dissapointing. Unlike the TV show, some of the one liners were pretty weak.
Although there were some funny parts to this film, it is very obvious ,of the difference in opinion as to what constitutes comedy ( for that matter what is funny) between the 2 countries that are " across the pond" from one another.
Some reviews thought this was an absolute laugh-fest, while others, thought it was boring. I would say it is in the middle of those two ranges.
The film had it`s moments but I feel it is more social commentary than comedy.

James Gandolfini as a high ranking military officer, who "Loves Dog`s"? Seriously is he that hard up for roles, after the Sopranos?
Don't pigeon hole. Should I go watch 'Meet The Spartans' and write a review saying, 'this is what Americans think is funny'?
I love the show this is based on but I didn't find this movie particularly funny. Monty Python couldn't be much more different to this but is also British humour. Just like 'Frazier' and 'Scary Movie' are both American but incomparable.
A very good political comedy about British and American politics from the BBC network.. This movie revolves around a good story but the acting and comedy really showcase this movie as a really good one.. Many memorable one liners and lots of swearing.. If you think you might enjoy it, give it a watch.. 3.5/5..
Like a bunch of chickens all trying to cluck at once..
this movie was so much non stop talking it became more of an annoyance than anything.
just because you make a lot of words, doesn't mean you should use them all.
It's like they were worried that if one second of silence passed, people would realize it wasn't funny.
Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance, but it was giving me a headache.
Great political satire with amusing plot, yes there are moments that are frustratingly annoying especially the scottish accents but generally it flows well and is interestingly amusing with occasional hilarity, typically it depicts politics as quick sharp and witty..shame really that in reality it's plain dull.
definately worth a watch though 8/10
Starts off stronger than any comedy I've ever seen but tapers off half way through. It might be a way to grab the watcher's attention to draw them into a politically meaningful plot but I doubt it.
Cast were great, satire was great but I felt like most of the film's substance and energy were expended in the first fifteen, admittedly hilarious, minutes. Not that the latter half of the film was bad, I just felt a little let down after the immaculate care and attention to detail of the beginning.
Massive kudos for tackling a topic the rest of the media obviously doesn't have the stones to take on in anything even approaching honest cinema or good journalism. Hats off to the producers, wish there were more of you ..
Must-see for a Brit. Recommended for anyone else. I hope Iannucci gets the backing to go on to do bigger and even bolder things.
A Dr Strangelove for the Noughties. Scarily hilarious, has the whiff of awful truth about it. I like Iannucci's work, and it's nice to see his slant on life transfer so successfully to the big screen.
I loved The Thick of It and wasnt sure if its style would translate into a movie, shouldnt have worried with Malcolm Tucker at the helm and Jamie as his wingman (no Scottish bias here, honest!) it was hilarious.
A top cast and some great lines made this a joy to watch, it was funny, clever, funny, satirically scathing, funny, Iannicci triumphs.
This film was hilarious! I can definately see what all the hype was about and why it got so many good reviews. Peter Capaldi was excellent all the way through, in fact; the whole cast was great. Whoever wrote this is a comedy genius, 10/10.
That was brilliant. Armando Iannuchi has expanded his mauling of the British political system - usually done by his "The Thick of It" tv series - to include the Americans. I hope that this is not the way things are done by governements, but this seems too accurate not to be true. A must-see as a political diatribe and also an example of the most creative swearing I have ever encountered. 5/5.
