Good movie, beautiful and dreamy in parts, my favorite scene is when they are swimming under the moonlight and share their first kiss, wow really romantic, both Robert Pattinson and Javier Beltran did a great acting job.
Pretentious existential clap-trap. Did these young students really think like this? Cinematography is so dark details of period costumes and sets are completely lost. Usually enjoy this genre of film, but this one left me waiting for something to happen. Might have been better w/subtitles. Wouldn't recommend.
yes, that it is!! but it was great the way rob portrayed salvador dali. he even kind of looked like him in the film. Bravo!! it took a sec to get to the point but when it did it wa great!!
Good movie. Deserves more credit..not to happy about the "Edward Cullen" fans coming on here and saying it's good because they happen to have a crush on the main character, give credit where credit is due.
Exquisite independent film! I'm surprised it wasn't a box office hit, considering Robert Pattinson was in it, and it came out right after Twilight. Maybe a lot of people either haven't heard of the movie yet, or they're haven't heard of the genius that was Salvador Dali. He's been my favorite artist for as long as I can remember, and although this didn't portray him in the best way, it was pretty accurate when showing his eccentric behavior, because eccentric, he was. Crazy or not though, he was one of the true geniuses, and talent like his will never be duplicated.
Also surprised to see that Rob Pattinson is not at all just a pretty face with a smooth voice who melts me every time I watch Twilight (getting up to about 30 times now, give or take lol) He was fantastic in this movie!! If I had never known who he was before, I'd still totally be a huge fan after this movie. He is also another very talented artist who takes the theater quite seriously and just happened to be cast in a major movie, and is not the "it - guy". However, he has always been involved in drama and music as well. He's a classically trained pianist, as well as talented guitar player, and singer, and of course, an AMAZING actor, as shown in this movie more so than in Twilight, or in the Harry Potter series.
This was an interesting film but also wird!?!?!?!
i don't really know what to say about it specially when i didn't watch the ending and i stoped to watch from the half of the second part.
Robert Pattinson is an great acter but i'm not sure if this was a great movie ?!?
A brilliant film displaying portions of both artists lives that were truely significant to who they were. The acting was entertaining and in my opinion the movie was a wicked success.
Hm, think about Pattinson, that he was miscasted. I like Dalí and the movie, but don't know what to think of the acting of Pattinson, although I liked his roles in other movies.
Movie could have been better. I read once some pages about the extravagant parties at the painters home, with loads of models, loads of orgy, loads of drugs,.. and a lobster that was put in golden paint alive and after that, the animal was put on the chest of a model and painted. So, I think I expected more extravaganza. But it was a movie that was worth a watch for certain. Loads of drama and romantic scenes.
This is what you call "propaganda"..trying to make Dali something he wasn't and at the same time, making a mockery of his relationship with his wife. In fact, he was passionate about his muse, Gala, who was his model as well. They were inseparable for 53 years and when she died in 1982, Dali lost interest in living.
I agree. As far as the movie goes on it's own and not it's authenticity. It was excellent cinematically. They took many liberties and did not exactly paint the truth but they painted their version of it. It was a beautiful art film to watch.
This was an interesting film. I also agree that the first part of the film seemed more like the way Dali was then the second half. I suppose they wanted to delve into the gay side of him then show his real life. Well..so be it. It is still a good watch if you like art films. But you know how art films are..you either like them or you don't. There is no real middle ground.
It's quite annoing when for some people a movie is soo awesome and soo amaizing only because some pretty face acted one of the leading characters.. Please, those of you who coment a movie by it's cast, find yourself a nice fan page and write rubbish there!
As a portrait of Salvador Dali, they vent too far. I cant believe that a person would be as crazy just because his paintings tell so. For me, and believe me I have read a lot on the subject, S. Dali was a crazy artist, but a shy men and the first part of the movie tells it good. After he meet Gala, he went guffy, but not as much.. but hey, who am I to tell..
