this was a ton of fun - I refused to watch it until now (it took a Craig Ferguson interview with Pierce to pique my interest), and I regret not seeing it before - I grew up with ABBA and my 1st trip to Europe in mid 70's that was all I heard (great memories came back listening to the music) Pierce Brosnan got a Razzie for this but that was not fair - he sang just fine - very enjoyable and I'm glad I crawled out under my rock and watched this - Amanda was so cute, too 10/10
I now see why it became one of the most watched movies of all time - Bravo!!
What a performance!! Obviously, the story is stolen from a French movie, but this one is so different and so musical! Had no idea so many actors and actresses could sing! Even Brosnan and Colin Firth :)
Maryl Streep is as great as always. She once again proved how talented she is! She really is a queen!
I think I like this movie so much that I can watch it on and on! Meryl Streep is just an absolute delight in it! Just love the song of Lay all your love on me.

I actually HATE HATE musicals, but I regret ignoring this one and not watching it before. I recorded it on HBO and watched it and I absolutly loved it. And I love to .. lol. So if you are hesistant to watch this movie because you do not like musicials either, then I say give it a try, it is free so you are not wasting any money, just time. If you do not like it or are not at the least bit interested in the outcome after the first song or ten minutes then turn it off. Give it a try..4.5/5
wow grear movie sophie has 3 possibly fathers but they find out the real reason why she bought them them their..sophie doesnt get married but travels wit her boyfriend and her mothers agree to marrie one of her father,,
when this 1st came out, I had no throughts of seeing it, to me it looked like an over dramed, crap singing abba tribute thing..
But I watched it on here, and went on to seeing it at the cinema 5 times, and then buying the dvd and the soundtrack !
This film to me is like cream, it so amazing..
with so many good actors, scrap good, AMAZING..
Its set somewhere so beautiful you could lose yourself in the scenery.
The singing, well I didnt know my fav actress could sing like that but Meryl Streep was heavenly.
The film was funny, and kept me gripped.
So to conclude, This film was amazing..watch it !

Not A Big Lover of musicals but this really suprised me..pleasantly..I loved it !
Watched it twice, a real uplifting, shake your booty film that hit all the right spots, maybe cos I am from the Abba generation but I was really impressed and loved every miniute of it.
Also I never really looked at Meryl Streep as sexy before but this film seemed to make her sooo hot, she wouldn't get kicked out of my bed for a long time !
Great foot stamping family entertainment, a sweet, totally fun inspirational uplifting film, Very Highly recommended, 10/10
i've been smiling and i'm still smiling..i've always been a fan of abba, know all the songs in the movie and that's what makes me so happy. they're really good songs to sing kareoke to in bar or at home, and if u don't know the songs then i'm afraid you'll have a hard time watching it..choreography is really amazing..
oh and lovee the last song, waterloo is my favorite outta all of them abba songs:D..i wouldn't mind watching it over and over again just to sing along and let me tell you, may be it's just me but i don't think pierce brosnan is a really good singer, i'd give him thumbs up for the effort though...lol
Yeah you really got be into the Abba music of the 70's and be able to accept this movie as a stage play and musical. Musicals can be hard to swallow if you are not a lover of all good music. I agree with the person who said that this movie gives a good storyline to go with the songs. The actors especially the men really gave it a good go. I was pleasantly surprised with Pierces strong renditions, and loving Colin as I do, nothing he does is wrong. Great little solo on the guitar. Meryl is a consummate actress as well as having the gift of song. All in all I think it was a fun, funny, fast paced and great story movie. I recommend it for all but especially for musical fans. West Side Story, Sound of Music, Oklahoma, Carousel,,ya gotta love em!
This was better than I thought it would be. I felt it was pretty much making fun of its self in a way which takes away the corny part and just lets you enjoy it and laugh. would watch it again
I went to this movie when it came out at the cinema and absolutely loved it. Bought it straight away when it came out on DVD. Watched it so many times and never get bored of it. Love Meryl Streep and Julie Walters, they picked 2 great actresses for this film.
i just don't know why i was ignoring this movie for a such a long time ..i loved it everything in it,the songs,the actors and the places ,it is a great musical.The whole movie is lively,cute and funny at the same time
I grew up on ABBA so all the music is familiar. I heard this movie was a hit so I went ahead and got it for the family and it was a hit with them too. The storyline is nice with ABBA music strewn throughout the film and it actually makes for a good time. It definitely looked as if everyone in the movie was having fun and it's just infectious. But what really makes the movie work is the lush and breathtaking scenery of Greece. It's good but GREASE and THE SOUND OF MUSIC are still tops in my book. 4/5 stars
Well first when I saw it at the cinema I wasn't very positive about this movie. But now I think it's quite OK and Abba songs are very nice :)
Especially I like Abba - I mean I remember their song sing by 'A Teens' or sth like that.
But - Maryl S. was amazing in that. It's like 7.5/10 :)
I've heard so many of these songs before and now I can see how they all fit. Growing up with my brother we watched plenty of musicals, but I had never seen this one. I had really been missing out.
Meryl Streep and everyone had so much energy. It was very emotional and had many ups and downs. It was great though.
[SPOILER]
I loved the three main men, especially Bill Anderson's character. He was so fun and adventurous. Harry Bright was hilarious because he seemed so different from his younger self. And he's such a nut. Sam Carmichael, I just haven't figured out yet..
The ending was great. I grew up without a dad, so this one tugged at a few heartstrings of mine.
