I didnt really know about the subject matter of this film before watching it, it was Jim Carreys name that attracted me at first, but now im really interested in the life and work of Andy Kaufman. The film itself is very good, brilliant performance from Carrey, not the sort of role you would link him with. Some very funny moments and great directing from Miloš Forman, who always makes a good film. Would definitely recommend the film and to research the content. Top comedy. 5/5
Jim Carrey is excellent in this, he keeps the film going. It's not really a comedy as such, more a interesting life story about the complex and unique comedian. Entertaining 4/5..
This is an amazing film. But don't expect any belly laughs. It's meant to be excruciating and embarrassing.
If you have ever seen Jim Carey do stand up you will notice the complete contrast in character to the protagonist of this film.
Great characters , great cast and a plot that leaves you scratching your head and asking yourself:
"Did I enjoy that movie or did I just keep watching out of curiosity?"
It's one of those films you have to watch twice in order to fully appreciate it as a masterpiece.
This is one of my favs.. I'm glad I watched this movie again, it's been forever. What a story ah?? You know Andy Kaufman is supposably going to hold a press conference Nov 9th in NYC. Prolly jus a rumor, but wouldn't it be amazing if he did fake his own death??
Jim Carrey is amazing! I never heard of Andy Kaufman and now I'm actually a fan. His life was about keeping people entertained any way he knew how, even though most people didn't get his unique brand of comedy. I hope he still is alive. That would be the greatest bit ever.
