Margot and her son Claude decide to visit her sister Pauline after she announces that she is getting married to less-than-impressive Malcolm. In short order, the storm the sisters create leaves behind a a mess of thrashed relationships and exposed family secrets.
I'd say that this is a real down-to-life type of movie. I like it when Jack Black plays this type of role. He can really bring out a funny, dramatic, and a 'missing screw' character. I don't think the movie ever really sped up or slowed down in any areas. It just stayed at a nice and easy pace; just enough to keep you attention. I give it an 8/10.

Why did they make this movie? The main character Margot is a selfish childish shrew who treats her son like crap, is cruel to her sister, and basically has no redeeming qualities. I kept hoping the movie would go somewhere meaningful but it never does. While the acting was good, it couldn't make up for the lack of a good story. Don't waste your time!!
I didn't hear much about this movie before I watched it, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not being a huge Nicole Kidman fan, I thought she was terrific in this role. Playing a not very nice or likable person that you couldn't help feeling sympathy for. I thought the dialog was fantastic, and all the characters very well developed. It was overall a very dark, realistic and slightly comedic look at the turmoils of family. I know this movie will not be everyone's cup of tea, but for those who appreciate realism in their characters and a very well written script, I highly recommend..
It wasn't as good as I expected.. Little bit disappointed too.
I don't know..this movie's kinda weird to me. Or maybe I just didn't really get it.
The mains characters were more like a mess, but I guess it shows the real side of life and how could it be for some people.
I may give it 3 stars. It wasn't that bad afterall..
