It's a good movie, but it lacked something. Wish I knew what. The rest of my family loved it, the girls cried and absolutely spoiled my dog during the next few days.
Being single and a cat person myself, this movie didn't do much for me.
I actually thought it was a little depressing. Life's a dog, and then you die.
The ending was truly a Stephen Spielberg moment.

i cant understand what the big deal is about this movie.. its average at best, i thought it showed why jennifer anniston will never be a movie star like nicole kidman or julia roberts.. because she cant act on the big screen. shes a sitcom star only.. i thought the movie would be about the dog.. but it would mention the dog then drift somewhere else.. im not a lemming, like so many. its an average film, best watched like a saturday matinee
Tell me how you can make a movie about a dog mainly that doesn't talk, without making it incredibly dull to anyone who doesn't have extremely strong feelings for Dogs? I think the direction they took is superb and the way people like you think is the reason why the movies that should be getting all the hype don't, and the movies that don't deserve any of it do.
Well, I'm a little biased because I do have dogs. Canine lovers have to be moved by this flick. As for "cat" people, they probably saw it as slow, with no real purpose. Still, it did pull one of my few remaining tears from hibernation. 5/5
I don't know why people assume if you're a cat person then that's the only cat you ever like. I care about all animals and I can relate to losing a pet. I've never once owned a dog in my life. I just have the care for animals. If you're a "Pet" person you will probably see it as slow with no real purpose. If you don't just see your buddy as a pet but more, like a family member, then it's much more.
I clicked on the movie becuase it was rated 9 and had around 8,00 views. So I assumed it has to be a great film but I was very very wrong. At the start, I thought it's about the dog and then the theme kinda shifted in to the family and then back to the dog. Most of the secene could be predicted and at about 3/4 of the film I had enough but kept watching till the end anyway ( It's just my way of watching films lol).
Poor / pathetic directing but good acting. They could have made the plot much better though.
I would rate it 7.5 /10.
Lesson learned : Don't judge films by their rating and number of views !!
It's not meant for the traditional movie-goer. If you've ever lost a pet you actually held more than just a pet in your eyes this movie is very powerful. I don't see any other way of watching it. It's like a horror film. If you don't have an imagination it just won't work.
Not quite what I expected, had more of a serious take then movies like Turner & Hooch. I loved it, Marley was so naughty but actually, he was a good kind dog really. Great acting by all.

I cried like a friggin' baby when Marley got sick and had to be put down. It always hurts to say goodbye to your pet =(
It's That Christmas Time Of The Year Again Yahoo Users B+
2008 and Owen Wilson put this gem of a film out. This movie makes you laugh, cry and get so frustrated as if you're the owner of that disastrous dog! I doubt extremely young children would enjoy this film, perhaps 5 and above would be able to maintain interest on the screen. You have to watch the antics to truly enjoy the film.

Didnt know a great deal about this movie before i watched it, so wasnt really sure exactly what to expect.
I was pleasantly pleased and warmed with it! It made me laugh, it made me cry (like a baby!!) and it made me feel good!!
If you had a childhood dog, or have a pet this movie will warm the cockles of your heart! If you found it dull, boring, uninteresting.. do you have a heart??
It is a bit of a chick flick, but my other half watched it with me and he cried too! he said he enjoyed it and it was well worth watching.
i watched this movie a while back but i never got to finish it.. and now that i have i must say it was worth the wait.. i didn't cry..but i would be lying if i said i wasn't close to it.. 5/5 and a must see.
Aww! What a tear jerker, I'm still crying like a baby. We get so attached, don't we? I LOVE my dogs, they are part of the family. I dread for myself and my family when these dogs pass. I hope they will save me a great place in Heaven. They bring so much joy into our lives. Love you Ling Ling & Kato!

Anyone who says this movie is boring or slow is a liar and an idiot and I am glad I didn't take their advice. This is a great family movie, that takes you on the journey with the characters. I think the storyline was good and the emotions came out. I smiled, I frowned, I laughed, I cried. Great !
Now I finally watched this movie, I must say I never had any interest in watching it until I caught a glimpse of it on tv. It was a good, funny and emotional movie.. Made me cry (-_-,)
I love Jen she is so adorable.. For those who say she cant act...I think she does a great job!
I didn't think this movie was worth all the hype. It was a good movie all in all but the ending was kind of wrong. Just didn't fit the rest of the movie I thought. I give it a 6/10
