Upon arrival at a mental institution, a brash rebel rallies the patients together to take on the oppressive Nurse Ratched, a woman more a dictator than a nurse.
It's crazy how even though this film was made in the 70's that it lives on through the generations. I'm 20..and I finally got to watch this classic and beautiful film. Jack Nicolson is just purely and utterly amazing in this and his character was hiliarious. I also liked how it got sentimenal at times like when he talked to chief when no one else would..and they went fishing. Funny but also heartwarming..and sad all at the same time. The only thing I didn't like was the ending but I understood why he did it. 10/10!
This is one the very few movies that I can go back and watch a second time.. let alone a third fourth fifth and 100th.. I adore this movie.. Maybe because it was the way it was introduced to me when I was a kid.. I used to hate Jack with all my hearts content when I was about 12.. My mom loved his acting tho and I couldn't understand it everything I saw him in he played a monster..
*i had seen the shining for my 12th bday party lol would you show your 12 year old that now a days? lmao well my mom and all my friends watched it in our living room and my sister scared the crap out of us so from then on i hated him..*
So my mother wanted me to learn an appreciation for acting, the real person behind the character and this was the movie she taught me how to see beyond the movie and into the rolls of acting.. I saw what an amazing roll he played and how I could actually LIKE Jack cuz he didn't always play a monster lol *my 12 year old mind* but not just that, that this movie he worked in changed history. Well it helped anyway.. and that blew my 12 year old mind out of the water..
I love going back and watching this movie, Just like I love to read about stonewall and the heroes of today.. tho this movie might only of been a small part in some major changes in this world, it changed me.. and it has to start with one before it can begin..
Amazing film. Brilliant yet simple storyline with strong and timeless themes. Great acting from Nicholson, Fletcher, Lloyd, Redfield, Dourif, Sampson and of course DeVito. Not much more to say. Beautiful ending too.
A true masterpiece. Both hilarious and tragic, this film really knows how to play with your emotions.
The big Indian guy is awesome and Jack Nicholson is, of course, legendary.
There's not really much else to say. This must be watched.

This film may be more than that. Ken Kesey wrote a great novel-rampant with the themes of growing, becoming and living. I had the pleasure of taking an English course with Ms. Clarinda Lott (Poet Laurette of Towson University - I mention this because the great lady aborhs notariety) and the movie is a great work in-and-of itself; however the book is better. But 5/5! I'm still in love with her!
This is easily one of the best films ever made and it has held up over all the years. Jack give the best performance of his great career. This is what all other dramas try to be!! There are not enough thumbs up to explain how great this film really is and is a must for all TRUE movie fans.
truly a classic film..jack nicholson at his prime, along with a slew of amazing actors, this is by far one of the best cinematographies of all time. you will laugh, and you will cry. you will grieve and rejoice throughout this entire neurotic and tragic comedy. the acting is superb and you will not leave this experience without a single satisfied nerve in the body. 5/5 one for the records!
Great film.. with great actor when they were young. Had a little bit of everything in it.. action, drama, violence, suspense.. pretty well made masterpiece.
Fantastic film! I can't beleive I'd never seen that before, a real must for any film fan. You can't predict any of what happens, it keeps you guessing all along, the end was really sad but happy at the same time (If that makes an sense).
