Everything about this movie can be expressed in superlative terms. George C. Scott played the part of his life in this movie. Patton himself would have felt proud to be characterized by Scott.
It was unfortunately that Patton had to pay a high price for humiliating the scared soldier. It was a very controversial issue. I can understand Ike regarding this embarrassing incident.
Given 5 hrs and they could have told more about Patton's exploits. Like, he fought with Pershing as a Lt against Poncho Villa in Mexico, and how he commanded the first US Tank Corp during WWI.
Great Movie. I've seen at least 5 times and it never gets old.
Its funny, before Patton, George Scott was a good grade B/B+ actor. After Patton, he became more famous than the man he portrayed. N-T-L, Gen. Patton is a historical figure, as is Julius Caesar. We sometimes forget that we are watching film. (this is a good thing!) This film won 7 Oscars & 17 other awards. It was also nominated for 7 others. It is a great movie, and perhaps a tribute to the man. This is one of the most recommended list.
Yeah without a doubt Patton is one of the greatest American generals of all time, he did what most other allied generals couldn't in ww2. He made the Axis fear the Americans. Monty was pretty good himself, but i think his confidence was shattered after not being given the supreme allied commander role at D Day.
Good movie though, definitely worth the watch..maybe even to buy too :P
The Marines are overrated.
The 3rd ID, US Army, made more combat amphibious landings than any other division in history. On D-Day, the largest amphibious landing, there was not one single Marine in the lot!
On December 9, 1945 he suffered injuries as the result of an automobile accident. He died 12 days later, on December 21, 1945 and is buried among the soldiers who died in the Battle of the Bulge in Hamm, Luxembourg.
The "bad" rating is probably due to the fact that the stream cannot be put into full screen mode. Other than that it's stellar. The movie it's self is amazing.
I agree with nothing the man stood for and loved him all the same. George C. Scott gives an amazing performance of this Original Badass.
I loved this Movie,, It was one of the all time greats of WWII movies, and a good one for Scott,, Well worth the time to watch,, And 56.com kept up nicely with no pauses at all..Bush
