I absolutely adored this movie. The parts were well played and it was classic Austen. Interesting that this book was the last she wrote, almost as if she knew she was dying. The tension in this movie was unbearable-I was in agony right along with Anne. Some girls in this era were gold diggers and desperate, but luckily Anne has her head about her.

One thing that I didn't really like (and probably would have made the movie end a little bit sooner) was the fact that he didn't just tell her and he put it in a note, and then she had to go running all across town after his crazy self, ugh!
My expectations with regard to courtship and manners were ruined by the restrained passion and romance of Jane Austen books 20 years ago and, to this day, still remain unrealistic, no doubt, but I enjoy nothing more than getting lost in the civility and beautiful language of a Jane Austen movie. This one was no exception. Bravo!
It captures the essence of love in it's most desperate. A love extended and seemingly unrequited is the most painful and their story is a spring of hope for it!

both bbc productions [one w/ciaran hinds, ceasar, ROME, HBO] and even though i like him - there was NO chemistry b/t he and his leading lady. however, in this bbc production, i thought had much more humanity, and i ultimately found it more accessible. you could see his love for her blooming again, you could see how after their re-acquaintance - he now understood her reasons for her earlier decision...very nicely done.
I have an absolute weakness for "regency era" dramas and this was a good one. The cast carried it off perfectly with the machinations of the women that literally had no rights and yet some ruled the household and society with a single glance or word. There is something about the regency era that hits home with the manner and politeness that is so lacking in modern day society that as far as films go they are my personal "cheesy poofs" as Cartman would say because I can't get enough of them.
I thought it was a good adaptation of Jane Austen's "Persuasion." It looked like it would be "Mansfield Park" during the opening scene and I thought "I think they got the wrong title" but I was wrong. I was happy with the cast.
It took me 2 weeks to complete the viewing of this movie!! ..the links DO NOT WORK.. the things we do for Jane Austen.. This is by far the best rendition of Persuasuion I've seen and I'm sure all of Austen's fans will agree with me.
This story ; much like the others in the Jane Austen Collection is a gift of literature put to film.
Anyone who finds this video here and does not watch it, is missing out! I have read and watched every Jane Austen novel at least ten times and Persuasion remains my favorite.
Based on the story of the same title by Jane Austen. It's about a woman who has remorse about not excepting an engagement as a young girl due to family snobbery and the effect it has on her life, but romance will always blossom!!
If you like classical romantic literature this is for you!
The story is about a girl who runs into her first love after many years. her father had run him off saying he was two low in society.
If you like pride and prejudiced you will like this one.
