while the young fanning daughter is a good actor, the movie itself was a bit lame. I guess if your a mom you might like it a little more than I did. it waas rather predictable and boring.
A very good movie. Too deep for children to comprehend. The children did an excellent of acting. The Fanning girls have a good future in the movie business.
for you to assume that a child would not be able to comprehend this movie is rediclously ignorant. just because you probibly wouldnt have doesnt mean that someone else cant. take for instance the fanning child if children are able to preform it, wouldnt they also be able to understand it? then that should go for most other children given the chance!! i think you should go watch "the dead poets society" take a lesson about conformify.. and please please stop catagorizing PEOPLE
wow what an amazing film deals with some serious real life issues and ties them to alice in wonderland.
im glad for movies like this, ones that can atleast sorta grasp how someone might feel and then deliver it so powerfully. people need to see movies like this more often. How hard must it be for a child "person" having to grow up with all that going on?
and as for elle fanning, jesus christ how old is she? she delivered a top preformance. even down to her fake play acting. she can preform on so many levels its rediclous. kudos
more people need to see this film. 5+/5 an excellent rainy day film.
i was confused until the end then i got it she had a mental disability you could see that throughout the movie. the only part i don't understand is how Alice in wonderland tied into the disability. love the fanning girl terrific actresses.
What a great movie. What a great concept. What a great spin on the tale of Alice In Wonderland. Elle is a good actress. Not as good as Dakota but still good. The movie was moving. 3 out of 5 stars.
This girl is good. I can't wait til she gets older to see what she does in the films. As far as the film is concerned, make sure to pay attention, and try to understand the basis of the story. For me, it wasn't quite clear until the end. Interesting story. Plus the litle girl that play the sis, is just as good. I wish she had more lines in the movies. But I understand the focus was on the main character. If you like indie films, this should float your boat.

I think the subject of the movie was shown in a way that lets us into that world the tiniest bit and feel some of the frustration..from the childs point of view not the parents.
These are my thoughts on the film. The film is very good up until it gets cut off by megavideo. Got to now wait an hour before i can watch the rest. Does anyone know how to bypass this waiting time without having to pay please??

I thought this movie shared with us something about how strong children can be when faced with adversity. Bravo to ALL cast members. I truly enjoyed it.
It could've been better, I think. It's definitely not disturbing like some make it out to be. Brilliant acting by all, especially Elle Fanning and Felicity Huffman! I give this one a 3/5.
I think Elle Fanning should win an Oscar for her role in this movie. You wouldn't want very small children to watch, I think it could be educational for preteens ect. because it shows you that people in real life have such problems which are not their fault. I can't say enough about the cast,which were all great, especially Elle Fanning. Like someone else said I think these Fanning children come out of the womb acting lol. It is uncommon that you have that much Oscar worthy talent in one family especially when we are talking about child actors. The movie storyline itself was very deep and kept me glued to my seat. Had another child actor played the part of Phoebe I probably wouldn't of enjoyed it as much. I can't say enough good things about this film.
thanks for that, i watched mysterious skin today and wow, what a dramatic movie. Cant believe i missed that one. Was very hard to watch but a real eye opener so thanks for the comment. It was far worse than towelhead, i watched that the other week.
This is what an indie film is all about. Very well written script, Elle Fanning and Patricia Clarkson (a personal fave of mine) both did excellent jobs bringing the quirkiness of the characters to life in this drama. This is a film about a little girl and some very deep issues she has to deal with and not sure I would want a small child to see it and think parents might want to watch first before letting a young one watch it.
Complicated And Not A Real Enjoyable Movie, Actually.
Good actors, Bill Pullman, Felicity whats-her-face on that dopey housewives show, you know the one. Patricia Clarkson is great as the drama teacher; she looks like a million bucks. Anyway, this kid says she's got angst. Her folks have issues, too, hey, who doesn't? Movies like this make me glad my childhood was fairly simple and that my folks were not the artsy-fartsy type. They kept me busy and I've always been glad for it; nothing will keep you saner than a strong work ethic. I babysat or helped my grandmother clean her house on Saturdays so I always had a buck in my pocket and could do what I pleased with what I made. I've never had angst to speak of, thank God, who needs it.
