this movie is so good well i didnt watch the whole movie cuz i dont understand what they saying i just watcgh the movie where they fight the War scenes are real good and the strategies that they use it was excelent
lol, well in my country of this versions only the megavideo works.. and it has no subtitles.. so everything about the storyline for me is "txu txingaua txu .. blabla yamaha, motorola, kawasaki, tamagoshi..".. you know..
anyway i think it deserves a good look just for the visual scene.. despite of the storyline i did not understand.
I felt like I was watching King Fu Theater on a Saturday afternoon, the fight scenes looked fake
And I dislke sub-titles, I spend all my time reading them instead of watching the movie
That's the price you have to pay for not speaking the film's language. The alternative is dubbing which, while freeing up your vision, robs the dialogue of almost all of it's emotion, inflection and timing. I'll take subtitles any day. In fact I'd rather spend six hours learning Chinese than six hours watching two dubbed Chinese films.
To each his own.. but I'm curious why you watched this movie. You 1) can't keep up with subtitles and 2) obviously don't watch or appreciate many Chinese epic movies.
i was sort of bored by this film. i love chinese mythology and learning history but this film had minimal storyline, 2 hours of repetive battlescenes broken occasionally by hollow sentimentality. 3/5 nothing special and nothing at all like the quality of crouching tiger hidden dragon or house of flying daggers. all it shares with those films is the language
well of course it looks fake because that how the story goes this was how it was told you duoche, the guy that saved the baby was told in the story that he went through thousands of soldiers and generals single handedly.
so the film is only telling the story that was recorded idiot. The other fights too.
im talking to: jhussher
John Woo is an amazing director that knows how to bring it all together and he make his movies enjoyable and realistic. The romance, the history, everything..ONE of the BEST I have EVER SEEN!
please dont crucify me for saying this but its the only point of reference i really have.. this was an amazing film for all the right reasons.. cast, location, action and plot. john woo rules the screen once more. i play the old dynasty warriors on the ps3 and it was great to see these charcters come to life on screen. i could see each person as they are in the game and also the whole plot was like watching the build up to the games battle of chi bi.
i love all these epic eastern films, chrouching tiger, daggers ect all are amzing and this is no different. watch it if you enjoy those films and watch also if you are a nerdy gamer like me and want to see an awsome game film cross over.
beautiful pictures of rural china, yangtze river, mountains ,forests and sunsets.very much the way i remember china when i was there in 2007.
The movie was an expose of the superior martial arts and battle tactics of the Wu kingdom in the second century and i found it quite educational.
in between these battle scenes were little "chinese fortune cookie platitudes" which could give a more cerebral audience the runs so be carefull .
It featured in the auckland film festival and deservedly so.if you have 2.5 hours to burn you could do a lot worse.
I enjoyed that!!..I love historical China, so it's a good start.. I like the understated romance, makes a change from the overtly sexual scenes you see nowadays..
Great action and I enjoyed the fight scenes and yes!! some are over the top but thats the beauty of this type of film.
what can i say one of the best epic movie i have ever seen ohh and dont panic when the film dont end because there is a second part to it and 3 gueses what the second one is called watch this movie it is a master piece from asia best thing since crouching tiger hidden dragon
I knew I was going to greatly enjoy this before I even watched it.
Three reasons: It's directed by John Woo, I love films about Ancient China with a passion, and just from the very brief description, this particular film reminded me a great deal of one of my favourite video game series "Dynasty Warriors", which is also based on the Three Kingdoms period, although obviously not as accurate as the film; that being said, I was already very, very familiar with all the names of the characters ..which heightened my overall enjoyment of "Red Cliff".
I was very satisfied with all aspects of the film; wonderful battle sequences, costume design, acting, story and cinematography. I consider this film an outstanding achievement.
For years, my favourite John Woo film has been the "The Killer", but that may no longer be the case.
It's not a film everyone will like, but to me, it's amazing.
Definitely going to watch the sequel. 5/5 stars.
Well thought out plot line.
Direction of the calibre to be expected,
of the Director who gave you 'Hard Boiled',
all those years ago..!
Gifted casting,
very entertaining. 4/5
