It seems to me that there is a certain amount of anti-american sway in this film. As a vet of the Iraq war I find the

images at the end to be a means to
tarnish the image of the US fighting men and women. In every conflict there is an expected amount of "collateral damage". What most people do not realize is that when going into war the "numbers" are projected for both the loss of enemy, civilian AS WELL AS American casualties. I favor to say that Mr. de Palma hasn't had the oppotunity to have a 7 year old draw down on him with a .45 cal pistol. I personally found this movie to be a slap in the face.
uhh..you know , collateral damage is something you always see in war in any country..any place so no surprise there..for example : ..even in latin america ..like said mexico , if you don't stop when they tell you to stop , they just shoot at you point blank ..no matter if you're an adult , youngster, ..or whatever for that matter ..in the efforts of fighting the drug war going on ,on those countries..they just don't care ..it's always the same ..but on the subject of rape for example ..that just another crime , here on usa , ..and other parts of the world as well..if it was up to me I'll had the guilt ones , shot by means of firing escuadron..but then again that's just me ..
I know one thing that as soon as President Obama is out of office America will torture again, because he did an Executive Order, he did not get the Congress to pass a law to stop all acts that are close to torture!

watching this made me have a different view on the iraq war. but overall - things happen everyday in life - some good some bad, people live with regrets, and some have no remorse..

Speaking as a US soldier in the army, it's almost laughable what a lousy direct Brian De Palma is. He's been remarried three times because he is as bad in character as he is at making movies.
good movie,i know the soldiers arent monsters. after being expoed to what they are to, with enemies and civilians mixxed in, and how civilians know things but dont tell troops, its easy 2 see how frustrating it can get there.
Excellent movie, hard-hitting and factual, if the truth tends to hurt then go and watch Spider Man or some other child's fairy tale, it's more suited to your tastes. A def 5/5. Police and military are the two most lied to human beings on this planet, this is illustrated in the response of a certain Private that apparently watched this movie. You could hold this type down and force them to watch what our military is doing over in Iraq and they'd still refuse to see the truth. How is it possible that anyone can look at the casualty figures of Iraqi civilians and still stand behind what's going on over there? We were supposed to be saving these people! Ladies and gents, YOUR military are engaged in an act of ethnic cleansing and murder. If you think I am dishonoring soldiers with these words then you are one of the most lied to yourself. Stop the murder!
After reading the comments, I saw not one pertaining to the peaceful civilians of Iraq. As an American would you feel comfortable with militias from any other nation patrolling your streets with full war gear and automatic rifles? I am a proud American vet myself, but I still and always will go by the truth, that ALL men and women are created equal. We won't let a few bad apples ruin our goodness.
Tht movie was kinda not bad but not good lol.And the only thing i hate is tht video was only made to make our troops look like .. pigs... all u non supporting .. heads i hope u all drop off the face of the earth if u beleive in this video..!!

its was a great movie but also really sad makes you think. on the emotional control these solders have on them selfs not taking sides but the images of dead children and and rape of women. it really makes a person think! how much worse can things get.
Let this movie served as a reminder to the country, that once, they were a GOD fearing nation and that's why they were bless by GOD and now they are being cursed and hated.

I found this movie powerful and harrowing. The montage style suits the telling of a war story and is entirely coherent. It doesn't really go beyond what you would expect, or might have seen before, in a film depicting the horrors of war but the actions and reactions of the characters feels real and the documentary style is convincing. Good but not great. V1 worked for me, watchable video.
Same basic plot as 'casualties of war': minus the excellent acting and screenplay. DePalma is a brilliant director, but this is certainly not his best outing. The mock cinema-verite-fly-on-the-wall-youtube type aproach has been overdone to death; shaky cameras make things look like high school films, not "real life"..unless you suffer from chronic siezures. The moralizing was as thick as tar and really didn't drive home the message..if there was one. A passable and somewhat dull movie..the subject matter deserves better.
As a veteran, this film hit quite close to home. While my ToD presented activities, similar but not identical, to what is depicted in this film, I can clearly see both sides of this war and those involved. This film touched on a particular unit and it's members which was only a small part of what's really happening. This film brought me no entertainment value, no emotion, nothing! Don't know why I watched it!
A good movie, graphic in parts but overall i thought it was well put together, im not gonna discuss my feelings on what i saw cos thats not the idea of this comments box or this website, so why not discuss the movie content and not personal opinion?
the story that they were trying to tell seemed very interesting, but it just takes far too long to develop. You have to be extremely patient before the movie starts to move along. I found myself very bored through most of it.
An excellent movie. Extremely well made and directed (Brian DePalma). Really good acting. I thought this was a very realistic view of U.S. soldiers in the Iraq. But this could pertain to any war.
