Very insightful look into the nature of addiction. The makers of the this movie went to serious lenghts to show that noone is immune to it. Great cast of young(at the time) actors and a soundtrack to die for.
Highly recommended.

Morbidly deppressing movie.ok it touches on some horrible things that drugs can inflict on peoples lives but certain parts of the movie just annoyed me.the speeded up scenes were overdone i thought and started to annoy me.i felt it dragged a bit too and that tv show the mother was watching kinda melted my brain.the soundtrack was the same loop of a song all the way trough the movie which again was a bit much.
i dont know how people have have rated this movie so highly because i think there are other movies that deal with addiction that are way better than this.6/10
was amazing. I can see how some would not like it for it is slow at times, and I think you got to have some experience with drug use or was close to someone for this movie to have a greater meaning too you
Not so long ago, kids were introduced to made for t.v films called "after school specials." These movies frequently educated kids to various perils of the world though adolescent/children's eyes and characters. Though often using inaccurate facts, cliche's and even suburban mythology, in its quest to save kids from society's pitfalls. In my opinion this was fine and even commendable, but remember, THAT was television! FREE T.V. !
This movie seems to work on the same formula. However this is a film, a movie, something people are supposed to invest a significant amount more in making and RESEARCHING and something people will eventually pay to watch.
What resulted here is one of the most over rated movies ever. It bears very little resemblance to REAL LIFE scenarios, or situations and is saturated with some of the most inane cliche's known to film.
Many who have NEVER taken drugs, known anyone who has done drugs and/or knows absolutely NOTHING about drugs, will certainly be apt to mistakenly applaud its over the top, horrific exaggerations, flashy camera work and sensationalistic scenes as "brilliantly insightful" factual deterrents. However, the movie does little to substantiate its ridiculous scenarios and comes off as poorly as most of the phony New York accents (that the actors don't even seem to ATTEMPT to do correctly).
Every so often a film comes into the public consciousness and by methods of manipulative symbolism, subject matter, or perhaps even a deal made with "the devil" himself, it becomes a success.
Unfortunately Requiem is one of these films.
How anyone can overlook all the faults and flaws this movie carries with it is unknown to me.
If you've been raised on films that left you thinking MtV really knows how to make good movies, or miss those after school specials enough, then this is up your ally.
Just be careful, the Big Bad Wolf might be lurking in that very ally, behind one of it's many dumpsters where this movie would be better suited to have ended up in.
If I could rate it a negative 1, that still wouldn't be low enough for this mess.
everyone has their opinions just like you i have mine but i guess youve never been around drugs enough to know what they do to ppl.. unlike some ppl in this world you must of been kept in the closet i sure as hell wasnt and i know what drugs can and cant do ive tried my fair share well w/e not the point but its still a B movie
Great drama, very powerful and in-your-face. Awesome acting from everyone, especially Ellen Burstyn, who was utterly phenomenal. Unique cinematography and a masterpiece soundtrack. Everything about this movie is quality.

This movie is great! When I first saw it, I liked it. It shows the tragic reality of being an addict and how it can affect the decisions you make through life.
One of the most upsetting movies I've seen in a long time. Very, very realistic of whats drugs to a persons mind , body , spirit , morals and ethics. Everything about a person can get just catastrophically devastated with drug addiction. This movie shows that literally and symbolically. Gonna go cry now and thank someone or something for where I am in life.
What a great movie Perfect acting all thec wat through. But lets mention the director Darren Aronofsky. I love to know how he did the shoots And what is oin his mind blowing visions to make this movie 10/10
if u wanna watch a better druggie heart felt movie check out basketball diaries now that was alot better than this one, I thought this was gonna be good but really it did not get my emotions goin and it was more pathetic than sad.
This is my all time favourite movie.
Surreal, emotional, dramatic, romantic, tragic.
Character-based plot with amazing screenplay, top notch acting and a moving melancholic soundtrack.
If you ever saw "Pi" and loved it for it's cinematic artistry you will love this too.

Meh I liked this movie but I hate junkies & everything to do with being a junky. Might aswell jump off a ********* BRIDGE to save the pain & hurt inflicted on family & friends.
