Given the circumstances very uplifting, well worth the watch. Very interesting if you google Dieter Dengler, the movie includes a great deal of actual details from his escape. FYI he was on the run for 23 days
This was surprisingly good, and I dont know why I was expecting disappointment but, this was very good.. Christian Bale was great as usual, Steve Zahn did a fairly good acting job. The story has been done but, you couldn't help engrossing yourself into the movie.. 4/5..
was agood heart warming movie, but to me the beginning and middle made it seem as a comedy w the dialoge, sum of the camera work was weird in the beginning as well, it seemed like a b movie the way it started and didnt get serious til the last 3rd of the movie, when he was flying his airplane the background looked like a screen playing it, resembling a poor special effects movie, it was weird and one of the guys in the camp was the comedy guy from strange wilderness? idk didnt seem like a hardened viet nam movie, atleast not the first 2 thirds, hell bale was smiling as he was being drug into the village? though after watchn it, it makes u not take granted the little things though like sleepn in ur own warm bed
Even the ending part when he's in the hospital and taken off seemed a bit ridiculous. I would think he'd be malnourished and really weak still etc. He never cries once, never breaks down.
Seeing this movie, and seeing the 20 minutes in Deer Hunter are complete opposites. The best part was with Bale and Steve Zahn I thought escaping.
I'm disappointed in Werner Herzog's Rescue Dawn. Apparently I was expecting too much. The Deer Hunter meets Apocalypse Now? The Killing Fields meets Papillon? I dunno, but I didn't get any of that from this film. And the ending? I mean, Werner..what!? 5/10.
slow going in parts, Christian Bale and the rest of the cast are very good, true story with abit of yankie gung hoe (they always win in war) that said good movie, you can watch this.
