It was a little hard for me to follow some of the deeper meanings and stuff because of the translating, but the more visceral story about One and the children is..how do you say.."charmante?" Not a life changer, but a good ride.
I love this film, its one of my faves from when I was younger and going through my whole Foreign Film phase. Quite possibly one of my fave French films next to Brotherhood of the Wolf.
Not bad! It reminds me of the style of a Terry Gilliam film. Enjoyable, but it just seemed to lack something. Maybe it's Gilliam's sense of humour that it misses?
This is an excellent movie. A very odd creepy type of setting, with another very odd storyline. Although it is in French it has visable english subtitles. A very great movie, 5/5.
I've been waiting for so long to see this movie that I forget all about it untill I found it here. This is a masterpiece!! If you like this movie,check out Amelie & Delicatessen too. 10/10.
man ron perlman, thats awesome. i thought this movie was so like strange that it ends up being quite good, plus i love the storyline it was very original
Great MOVIE fo' sheistel! Ingenious! Stellar performances by all. A most fantastic story. But I am curious: does Dominic Pinot have..teeth? I've seen (and loved) him in 'Delicassen' and 'Alien Resurrection' as well as possibly a few others (that I can't remember now) and it always appear that he does not. Maybe they are just really tiny teeth. Really really tiny
This movie is an absolute must see for Sci-Fi and Fantasy fans.
It will take you to another world, and it shows that the French at times can make a movie as good as anything made by Hollywood.
The story is weird and very imaginative. The sets, lighting, special-effects, cinematography are all sumptuous.
The whole movie is a feast for the eyes. Highly recommended.
This movie was created and direction jointly by Marc Caro and Jean-Pierre Jeunet who previously co-directed the wonderfully quirky Delicatessen. Jean-Pierre Jeunet went on to direct Alien Resurection in Hollywood then later the famous Amélie (Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain is the original French Title) which got 5 Oscar nominations and garnered 51 awards worldwide. Talk about talent! What are they going to do next??
