Michael Sheen was excellent in this role, as were the whole cast. I learned a lot about the man. My only criticism about this movie is, that it was not long enough, (joke) I could have gladly watched it for hours on end. Brilliant. excellent. Not to be missed.
As a football fan i was always going to really enjoy this film, however i think anyone could watch it and enjoy the story because it is not completely football based. I think Michael Sheen did a great job, really got the essence of Brian Clough. Great cast, great story, all round great film. 5/5
Sheen truly shines in his character acting, his portrayal of Brian Clough is amazing and the whole cast I felt were brilliant.
This was a film about cloughs rise and rise, his unfortunate time at the legendary Leeds United could not have been portrayed better, it's still felt that if he had taken Peter Taylor with him to the centre of the universe that is Elland Road and worked on football rather than his hatred of Revie that he would have achieved greatness beyond compare with any manager ever, the fact that he went on to better things is tribute to the memory of an all time great of the game and the world is poorer without characters such as Cloughy.
A film I would recommend and not because I could name every spot is was filmed at in Leeds !!
This was such a good movie, i was glued to the screen, loved it, and it's all true too. Everyone took their parts so well and had uncanny likeness to the real life characters. If your a football fan this one is not to be missed.
Brilliant. Michael Sheen is an amazing actor. Be it Tony Blair, David Frost or Brian Clough (three very different people) he completely becomes the character. Anyone who hasn't grown up listsening to Clough spouting his opinions on anyone who will listen cannot fully apreciate Sheen's performance but I suspect will enjoy the movie all the same.
I'm also glad the movie didn't linger on the alcoholism aspect which the book so wallowed in and which, the author admitted, was largely fictionalised. This hugely and understandably upset his widow and was totally unnecessary if it wasn't true.
Not the best attempt at a sports film. Fairly ordinary and uninspiring. Timothy Spall & Michael Sheen impressed as did Colm Meaney who look a lot like Don Revie. Real clips used at the end of the film are the best part of movie
Its very hard to find a movie about Football that doesnt suck. This one doesnt disappoint.
I love Brian Clough..British Football needs someone like him these days
