just wondering is there any reason why is the obsessed girl speaking in german at the part when they are attempting exorcism..?
is it something to do with the demons..or is it just for the effect..?
I'm not a religious person or anything like that so I'm just wondering..

this was a great movie..not much of horror..but still kind of scary..
the thing that really scared me was that this is based on true story..
definitely 5/5 stars from me..
Well.. I have to say that when I saw Laura Linney within the first two minutes of the film I uttered the words: "Of course.." This does not mean I'm not fond of her, but it was expected and I immediately knew how the movie was going to go.. I found this film to be a bit boring, as with most of Laura's films.. The girl that played Emily Rose was magnificent, and even Linney herself wasn't half bad.. But how boring.. There was nothing in this movie that struck me as scary, there was 1 or maybe 2 semi-decent shock scenes, that sort of make you gasp at best.. I should also go on to say.. again.. that movie's that are "based on a true story" are totally bogus.. First of all.. Really? Notice how things like this only seem to happen to the religiously pious and devout.. It's always the uber Catholics that are the first to cry exorcism when someone acts a little bizarre.. Let's face it.. Whether something like this can really happen or not.. I still think they could have done a better job making this movie scary.. Which in all honesty, isn't that what they were trying to do..? Entertain us? Did they REALLY care to actually share the "true" story of Emily Rose? Or did they just want to make another blockbuster hit..
IMO the movie is worth the watch, but don't expect much..
I enjoyed this movie very much at first i though it would be filled with killing monsters and murder but turned out to be the opposite and yet it was still excellent
I thought this film was decent. I suppose once youve seen ''The Exorcist'' any film about this subject matter will seem a little inferior. Well worth a watch though 3/5
i love it ,but it was kinda scary as well and i first red on internet abou this story that was based on this movie and it was reall ,, everything that happend in this movie was reall story and it was shockin

excellent movie. Friedkin's " Exorcist" is still the best but this one was really great. interesting script, interesting way this story was described make this flick thought provoking. and of course some good horror scenes and creepy atmosphere-all in ideal proportions.
You all know Jennifer Carpenter, she played Emily Rose. she also played Dexter sister on Dexter. Showtime series. Plus a few other movies. Her father created Halloween. I bet that some of you never knew that. and no it is not Rob Zombie,

Yes it was based on a true event a girl named Anneliese Michal, The movie was based on her. I have heard the real exorcism on you tube (Audio) a long with pictures.

Wonderfully pieced together. Amazing script..very cleverly written. Top notch acting from everyone. I also loved the style in which the story was told; it added alot of interest.
I didn't find it to be "jump out of your seat" scary, but it was definitely chilling. I find anything exorcism-related extremely intriguing, and will most likely buy this on blu-ray.
Solid 5 stars.
