Fact-based thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska, where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up.
I believe that it is possible that aliens are real, I also believe this movie hurts the already tenuous credibility that anyone claiming alien abduction has left. This movie tries to sound like a documentary but relies too heavily on emotion to sell the story. There is little more to this movie than long drawn out hypnosis sessions interrupted by extremely loud and shaky footage. I was really hoping this would be a much better film as I am a huge Milla Jovovich fan. I want my hour and 38 minutes back!!
this movie wasnt in a scary type movie just scary if ur a believer, i am some what so it kinda freaked me out with including the documentary type footage with the movie itself, was still a pretty good flick of its kind and i mean it was poppin for what it is worth, dont listen to this ppl who watched with no open mind cuz if u do that then u wont be-able to take in the WHAT IFs to even comprehend the movie..i love the main character, the woman who was in resident evil she is a beast lol..love her movies.
lol.. well my film believer friends.. since i´ll be on a believer mood today.. ho cares about the other life forms if we will be dead in 2012 with the end of the world?.. ;)
Ok now about the movie.. it´s a interessant concept, really good acting, but the developing of the film it´s absolutly boring.. i hardly endure watching it..

the leading actress puts in a great performance but they didnt need to try con you in to believing that it was fact based ,but still half decent sc-fi movie thats worth a watch
Si it's not based on any actual true events or real happenings in nome alaska. The FBI visits are probably true, cuz heck, there everywhere. But wait, on the other end some one here has links to dive in to the story more. But I recall hearing in the news that this movie was sued for making up crap or something nuts to that effect. Anyways. This movie gave me the creeps. Especialy when everyone said it happened aroind 3:30 and I slowly realized it was 3:30 in the morning here, yeah, made me pee a little.
Just watched this film for the second time, now on a dvd advance, I still think even if you believe or do not believe the events (real vs recreated) the movie is still very entertaining and has great audio and editing, Milla Jovonich did a great acting job especially at the end, when the character she is playing is at the brink of losing her mind. One of the best movies of 2009, a must watch again.
So much more could have been done with this film to give it more credibility but then maybe that is what the director tried not to do. Was it real? Well, two things I want to mention..if there ever was a gaffe machine in the White House that could slip up and spill the beans, we have three more years to wait. Secondly, A very close family member who was in the Air Force swears the military has in their possession alien space craft and what is left of what was inside..how did they know? Because their platoon had to guard it and they were under a 20 year oath after retirement never to discuss..he started talking once his 20 years was up. Is he reputable? Yep..Dad has never lied to me yet.
The Fourth Kind" has crappy acting, and it is not a good attempt at a mockumentary. The movie's ULTRA-disturbing footage will give you shivers either way. Supposedly it is all "real", but not enough proof is given. Special-effects are not overdone, but they are only used to an extent needed to scare and shock the audience. People being lifted up into the air by a mysterious evil force while having a super-seizure? Now THAT is scary. The scene with the supposed "u.f.o." apparently "abducting" the little girl seems like bologna, but something is just so tense and disturbing about it. The scene in "The Fourth Kind" that really makes you lose your marbles is the video tape of the insane man that shoots his family and himself. The gore is blur-censored so the movie can stay with a PG-13 rating, but still, that one scene is psychotically insane enough to give you nightmares. It may not hit you at first, but "The Fourth Kind" is somewhat a modernized exploitation film. The acting may be bad, you gotta love Milla Jovovitch. The character that she portrays definitely contributes to the effect that this movie may have on you. For thrills, I definitely recommend "The Fourth Kind".
I watched this with interest and as a standalone piece of fiction it presents an original angle. The film is something you will either love or hate. When you have watched the film access the web links underneath the spoilers.
OK, so I have seen some reviews saying it was great and others saying it was horrible.. Let me put it this way. I LOVE alien abduction movies? Why Because there is something about the idea of becoming a lab rat for a race of beings far more intelligent than any human, that terrifies me.. Yes, I love to be scared..
Now about the movie, It was a pretty good story, I have seen far worse attempts, when it comes to presenting a fake movie as real.. ( paranormal Activity)
As far as alien abduction movies go, this was fairly tame. You never do get to see an alien, you just get to watch the hypnotized people freak out and describe what happened to them.. Which is OK, because the acting was great, and made it believable.
I liked it and would watch it again, I give it 3 out of 5 stars.
i only watched this movie to pass some time but but in the end i really liked this movie 5/5 made me want to watch the x files series all over again lol
I must admit I hated the start. But hell, it's freaking at the end.

I have no experience. My father claimed too. He took me to meetings in Chicago where many people claimed too see ufos. I just cannot write them off, but as I said, I have no experience of my own. Good film, the actual footage make you think. 11 million people could convince any jury! A must see for scifi enthusiasts.
O..M..G. This movie was INTENSE!! I was incredibly shocked!! I would have to give this a 9/10..Although I wasnt completely convinced on "Abyigails" testimonies..It all in all was pretty convincing..
first things first,
anyone who believes that we are of the highest intelligence and alone in the universe is just not being real with themself.
secondly this is just a film that was created out of a situation that occured, its up to you ( even with its driection) to decide what to believe.
and lastly, it made me jump out of my seat when

im not sure why this movie gets so much bad press on this site, i really enjoyed it, im not sure how much of the story is fabricated or even if any of its real but one thing i do know either way its a good film and its up to you what to believe, ill rate this a solid 8/10
I thought this was quite a poor film. I was expecting alot from it but it just didnt deliver. The premise was very good however it felt too over the top. It couldnt make its mind up if it was trying to be fact based and documentary style or a dramatisation of real events. This meant the film was overly complicated and took away from the story, which was quite good in itself. No where near the standard of ''Close Encounters of the Third Kind'' but decent. I enjoyed some parts however overall i wouldnt recommend it. 3/5
Most of us believe that we are not alone in the universe, and frankly to think that we are is quite absurd. With the million's of planet's there must be some sort of life residing out there. That being said, I think this movie was a load of crap. I wonder if the good Doctor will ever fess up to the truth about her daughter as she had to her husband?

that says some thing, they must have really wanted to watch the end! how can over 11 million of us can attest to the same thing and no one believes them? Sounds like fear run rampant, And why is it the other half of the story is always left out of possibilities?

When the interviewer asked whether or not she believed it was really god she never mentioned Satan. I think that these people are experiencing Satan and the demons. sick individuals that is spoken about in revelations where it says that in the last days Satan and the demons will be confined to the vicinity of the earth until Armagaddon Revelation 12:7-12. in the 70"s you only heard of so-called u.f.o's once in a while and over the last 40 years it's grown to over 11 million incidents. I've had several myself though nothing like this. I've only experienced things like this at seaonces and with oujii boards. but these experiences are in other areas too like people who have been victums of voodo.
things that make ya go humm? the movie was sobering and I agree with the one comment here to stay through the credits at the end, but its just a sampling of whats out there.
