This is one of the best movies I can think of. The girl looks so beautiful, no wonder he tried to travel through time to get her back! I'd watched this movie when I was like 12-13yr old and I could just remember him trying over n over to save the girl but.. like its said you cant alter the past. Good movie! Fantastic movie!

Just rewatched it as I remeber that the previous time I did not watched the end (dunno why)
This film tells the story about a man in search for an answer as why he cannot change the past. Instead it brings him to find the love of his life.
With an eye for details this one is made. As the affection for the main character grows, so does the weirdness along with it, but thats ok. The story is strong enough to endure some weirdness....
There was another comment where someone was comparing this version to the 1960 version and their memories of the latter
I have to agree on that statement where i too was disappointed having my expectations set very high.
I saw the 1960 version as a very young child and to this day, it remains one of my favorite movies of my youth.
In my opinion, this movie isnt as good as the original, For the simple reason that it relied on presenting the morlocks as creepy, Twisted creatures. Where as the original relied on the viewers fascination with time travel to keep them in their seats.
I prefer to focus on time travel, Rather than get caught up worrying about some nasty creature.
Still as a stand alone movie, This is a five star production.
I saw this when it first came out and did not like it because i compared to memories, but i have come to respect for its own vision of the story. the one part i miss most is the ending, better for the orig. when they discover what books he took with him. one thing about opinions, there cheap! 8/10
with so much dialogue that makes your heart tremble,wonder and imagine what if our world is to be what they have painted,then , i presumed or assumed is going to be hell leaving in a world filled with terror, fear of the unknown.. then i ask a question how do we survive living if we are controlled by maniacs
I bought the video back in the late 80's cause this is a brill film. The sequel (2012) is also good as is part 3 coming out in 2020.p.s. I borrowed the USA and lost it (2030)
I have see this one and the original from the 1950's. Both have good plots as they are almost the exactly same, but the new one has better special effects. Ether way I give this one a 3/5

OK, I WENT FORWARD IN TIME AND SAW THE SEQUEL, IT WAS GOOD, BUT U MUST WATCH THIS FIRST TO UNDERSTAND THE SEQUEL (COMES OUT IN 2012), ANYWAY, DON'T WANT TO SPOIL IT FOR YA, JUST SEE THIS NOW AND NO WORRIES! (AUSTRALIA OWNS THE USA IN THE FUTURE).

An exceptional production (adapted from the 1895 novel by H. G. Wells) directed by Simon Wells, who is actually the great-grandson of the original writer. Starring Guy Pearce, Jeremy Irons, Orlando Jones, Samantha Mumba, Mark Addy, Sienna Guillory, and Phyllida Law with a small part by Alan Young who also appeared in an earlier 1960 adaptation of the film, this is set in New York as an alternative to London and contains new story elements not present in the original novel, including a romance and several new characters, such as an AI played by Orlando Jones. Even though this cannot be compared, in any way, to the earlier classic film, I still find it worth rating a 4/5.
