That little girl was definitely dancing upon the line of insanity and imagination. Like, from all the messed up things that had been going on in her life, she had actually lost her mind.
It wasn't a particularly 'good' movie, but if you're twisted like me, it's a MUST watch.

The most f'd up part (to me at least) was when her dad was dead and she was living with him still, trying to feed him, talking to him, and then tossing her barbie doll heads into his busted-open stomach as a 'gift'.
As with the other comments about this film I agree with most of them. It surely was a weird concept. However, whatever else can be said, the girl was fantastic in her acting. I give it 9 of 10.

I concur, this movie was original and weird but, like most of his other films Terry Gilliam it was also very good.. I do have to say, that I didn't think it would be as disturbing as it was.. 4/5..
but very good I thought, its one of those weird indie flicks that go on and on but really interesting viewpoint and story, sad and somewhat frightening at times.. 5 stars for disturbing quality and amazing acting and direction!!
Sad and disturbing, some parts nauseating even. Speaks to the effect that
lonliness, mental illness, and isolation can reck havoc on the human mind.
wow..8/10 if you can bear to watch.
Definitely one of the most bizarre movies I've ever seen, comparable only to Eraserhead. Loved it just cause it's so out there. Defiinitely one of those you don't forget soon.
I will say this for this movie..Some friends and I watched it probably 4 or 5 months ago and it still comes up in conversation every once in a wile. wether you love it or hate it..its a conversation piece.
Well I thought this movie was bizarre, I'm not sure I found very disturbing or frightening.. mainly boring and uninteresting. For a majority of the movie we watch a young girl talking to her finger puppets in a run down house out in the middle of nowhere. The girl that played Jeliza-Rose was a really great actress in this movie, unfortunately that wasn't enough for me to watch this film the whole way through.
I found it difficult to understand, the young girls accent mumbled alot of the dialogue so missed quite a bit of what she was saying so didn't really get captivated by this one. She put in a great performance though as did Jeff. 3/5*
This movie " IS " for the the faint of heart and those blessed or allowed to be shielded from the harsher realities of life ! It Is by no means a Fantasy ! Somewhere on this planet , perhaps not so far from where you live , It's happening at this moment , only the scenario Is different ! Most tend to ignore and continue on with their lives , lives that are more Fantasy than this movie ! Any person involved In our Mental Health System deals with innumerable comparable cases DAILY ! Although It's unsavory nature at times signaled me to stop watching , I couldn't comply as It was too real ! It may be hard to take but It Is well worth the watch , and It Is TOTALLY 5 STAR !
This is definately not a feal good movie..i have not read the book, but i have seen many other Terry Gilliam films and i love his work. Never one to leave a good taste in your mouth, he does it again with another great film. If you like this one, watch Brazil..or 12 Monkeys is maybe his best. 4/5
The acting by the little girl and her mentally challenged friend was pretty good but the storyline was way out there, not enough to keep you interested. Couldn't even give it a 3 even after trying to justify a worth watch.
