A really good movie, so much that it doesnt even show that it is based on the book, and it follow the story pretty much. Worth watching, even if you like the book.

on paper this movie should of been an epic fail but it somehow manages to be hugely entertaining . if your a fan of time travel movies this is perfect for you
this has some good stars in it . after watching this you can see now why that guy was selected for the lead role in the movie 300

In fact, it was pretty good, all things considering.. oh, and Gerald Butler before he became really famous, I think. *chuckles* Martin Sheen is as charasmatic as ever!

didnt like how so many people died in this movie. exspecially the main ones. didnt like how maveric or wateva his name is stayed behind in that time. but still good movie.
While this technology may be available now or in the future, as Micheal Crichton eludes in the books preface, this movie is awful. It is pieced together so poorly as to make it an exercise in mental anguish. It is not so much that it doesn't follow the book, the CGI is so cheap that it appears in order to cut cost in the making of the film, Hollywood destroyed the entire premise of the story. They story is a fast forward version, with emphasis on the characters an their interactions (the romance other have mentioned) which ultimately make the actors look bad, worse than their sum. The story does begin to redeem itself while in "the world", but it is far to late for the actors to redeem their characters. I give this the worst rating I have ever given for any movie made in recent years, 1/10.
Though I expected to be pining for the fjords throughout this tale, once it gets out of the dig this story moves right along..at something too near a shuffle to be rated as five star entertainment, the budget bought as much as it could.
Horses, cowboys or equestrians, cost money, lots.
The property manager chose well and built in authentic tudor thatch style, and properly mudded fortress walls.
Excellent trebousiers ect.
It was a romantic tale, true enough, but can any of us live without the slightest romantic leanings?
I wouldn't want to.
