This movie goes to show that no matter how much you try to control your daughter, you cannot control circumstances in life, so rather than imposing the 'right way' its better to educate.. thank god that other neighbour was there to notice everything. There were so many ironies in this movie

Didn't have me throwing in the towel at all..Summer Bishel did an excellent job as a 13 yr old., child porn, are you kidding me? This is a film about adult perverse mindset, not child pornography-- it's about the coming of age of teens and just how vulnerable they can be with the adults and their teen counterparts. Child pornography--are you kidding, bunch of complete f@&*C%Ng incomplete morons. The movie definitely brought an intensity, and I have to say-- it reminds of the movie Kevin Spacey did-- where his daughter's friend is attracted to him and he is smoking pot with the neighbor boy and his father is some deranged ex-military retard..anyway, if anyone can help with the name of that film.. This film has a similar feel- Enjoy it.
i read the info on this movie on comcast and was like woa for reals?? lol i couldnt watch it in the living room cuz from the description i felt uncomfortable trying to watch it when my mom was there haha ok well im starting the movie now tell you how i feel about it after lol
ok so i finished it.. yeah it was koo but i think the ending could of been better. by the way i think having neighbors like the ones who took her in after she was scared from her dad are great human beings. kinna makes you wish there were more people like that ya know. i know i do.
tough to watch but tougher to turn away from. awesome acting in every role......a pretty heavy movie. glad i watched it....it was well worth the price of admission.
this movie is so disturbing and so frustrating. no girl is that dumb to not know when she is being takin advantage of she is retarded and deserved to get used like that because she knows right fro wrong. its annoying how innocent she acts wen these guys mess wit her like she doesnt know its wrong
How is a 13 year old supposed to know right from wrong if her parents are the epitome of contradiction? The only thing a child that young knows if what feels good and what feels bad, and most of the things that feel good to her come from outside of her family. No one even stops to tell explain to her what is going on, or why it might be right or wrong. She is forced to mature without being able to fix her own perspective on things. Furthermore NO ONE, male or female, child or adult deserves to be used like that. EVER.
This movie has a lot of problems people face everday. 5/5 There are parts in here that are uncomfotable to watch but this kind of stuff happens to a lot of people and even younger children.

Pedophiles, rape, sexuality and abuse. She was very young to be doing a lot of the things she was though. I'm so glad that Jesira reported Mr. Vesos. He deserved it.
well like everyone said it deals with some very heavy and disturbing situations. very well acted and overall the pace of the movie is good. it was a good ending though. i give it a 9 and recommend it to movie buffs because other people might have a hard time looking past the plot.
I don't remember every seeing this advertised, though I can see why not. Nonetheless, an excellent movie, and all the actors/actresses did an excellent job in some very difficult roles.
Ppl keep saying that this movie is disturbing, but what is so disturbing about it? THIS IS REAL LIFE. Something that goes on everyday. This is a young girl who is coming of age who has a stricked arabic father(which is not un-common) a crazy "white-american" mother who is basically in her own world. Exploying her sexuality,THAT'S LIFE. It might not be for some, but to others it's fiction.

The pedophile in the movie just made the situaton more intense as this child figures out who she is and the difference between right and wrong.

This movie is done very well with the melting pot that is America. It's worth the watch.. I usually like Aaron Eckhart and the roles he plays but, this was disturbing and creepy.. 4/5 or 8/10..
this was a brilliant and powerful film with great performances. i dont think that this movie was just about pedophiles as most people seemed to voice out about this movie. although this subject is a very disturbing and is a sick part of our society, this movie is about the human nature of sexuality that is a part of all of us. the movie shows that pedophiles are everywhere infects all kinds of people of different races

it was portrayed by her mothers bf who was depicted as a lowlife jerk in syracuse then it showed her new neighbor who was depicted as a clean cut white suburbian.
i think that this movie was a statement about our sexuality growing up and discovering new sensations. it also shows us that there are healthy and right ways of exploring those new feelings growing into adulthood and also wrong ways that are not only illegal but morally wrong. there are key lines and scenes throughout the movie that support this.

her father yells at her screamming ''you have no morals!'' this is to show that a young teenager is learning life through experiences ,so no she does not have solid morals, and not by what is pounded into her head of what is wrong or right.
other characters say similar things to her throughout the movie. some ppl have also commented that they shouldve showed more of the reality of what can happen to pedophiles by law but i think that there is a lack of that because the director didnt want this movie to be just about pedophiles. it is a statement about human sexuality growing up through the eyes of a young girl learning all the aspects of her own sexuality as well as others through her own experiences learning about life and sex that plays a relevant role.

BUT AM I ALONE TO THINK THAT IS REALLY REALLY SICK TO SHOW A RELATION BETWEEN A OLDMAN AND AN INSICURE AND NAIVE LITTLE 13Y OLD GIRL.?? I MEAN THIS DIRTY SICK RELATION ALMOST PASS LIKE NORMAL ONE AND IN 2H OF MOVIE JUST A LITTLE SENTENCE BLAME THE FACT THAT THE MAN ABUSED A 13Y OLD GIRL..
The film was ok. The acting was superb and the subject matter a little hard but as a father of 2 I found the film not to be sinister or shocking but just quite dull. These films are not made to glamorise paedos and you know it is that subject matter before you watch. Its the director who obviously has a thing for the topic..wasn't American Beauty enough. Its about a teens struggles and her paedo neighbour. Watch it if you want but dont moan after that it is a sick subject. In the UK we find it alot easier to show subjects like this on our primetime soaps and if the rest of the world followed suit maybe more children and parents would be more on the ball. How as a previous reviewer said this will help kids identify the signs is stupid as it is rated 18 in the UK and can't be viewed by under 18's. Shock horror..NO..good film..yes!!
sorry but,icould not watch this anymore i got to the neighbour giving the kid the key to her house to perverse but, it should be shown in school's to let kids know about the predators out there,again sorry i can not even score this as i feel physically sick to the stomach.
Summer Bishil, Did amazing..She really had me convinced the entire time she was really 13, no one could've done it better. Some parts I did not want to watch. I did feel bad for her, and yeah, the story was "perverse", but these kinds of things really happen.
Wut a film. Took a lot of energy watching it w/o turning away, but i can appreciate the story being told. Thank God for the little bit of humor in it, it would have been too depresing. The young lady, Summer Bishil, was great,\. Very believable of being 13 when she was really 18, she nailed it. And those around(supporting characters) were also great. 10/10
