I have cried over the book several times, and cried over this one too, although it was pretty different from the book.
In all, a very nice film who likes historical/heroic movies with romance flavor, good cast. I guess armour and swords really suit James Franco :)
This was a wonderful written script, the acting was superb and the direction of the film was flawless. I would certainly recommend this movie to anyone who likes a tasteful romance story..3/5

This is a Dark Ages version of Romeo and Juliet. Anyone familiar with the original Arthurian legends of Tristan and Iseult (Isolde) can tell you this is not that. The character names are all the same and the places are the same, but the story itself is a rewritten version of the legend and clings to it very loosely indeed. While the legend itself is a wonderful read..this film may actually be better in that it's more easily relatable and understood by modern audiences who are not familiar with the Arthurian legends of Tristan, and post-Roman Britain. James Franco really pulls one out of the hat as Tristan in this film and Rufus Sewell as Lord Marke makes one wish the actual legend conformed more to this film than the other way 'round. If you love historical drama or even just a beautiful romance, give this one a watch.
Agreed. Likely Tristan and Iseult pre-dated Arthur and heavily influenced it. All (acting, directing and scripting) are excellent but not inspired. All-in-all, a very respectable 8.5/10.
i thought a Knight's Tale was pretty good medieval love story until I saw
James Franco in this. soo hot i love this movie but i still love my Heath Ledger 2!! R.I.P. Heath
im sure this is a good movie but its to slow for me.. ive tried watching this movie 3 times now. the first two times i fell asleep cuz it bored me nd then this time i jus couldnt make it through. well.. guess theres always next time.

The storyline is a bit lame, however I'm always a sucker for sad romances and this movie no matter how many times I watch it, always makes me cry. One for those who love using tissues. OK movie, however, I'm dumbfounded as to how it has scored such a high rating. Each one to their own I suppose.
I don't know why this is rated so high. No good fight/war scenes and Franco to me is just not a fighter/super hero/action/tough kind of guy. He is actually a shrimp! His fight scenes are in no way believable and everyone else in the movie is taller than him..
Actually, it is also called Napoleon syndrome and is used to describe a type of inferiority complex.
I still think he is a terrible actor only liked by the tweens for his boyish looks.
5/5 stars for beautiful film making, outstanding acting, and wonderful storytelling.
This is barely remotely related to the actual legend of Tristan and Isolde (or Iseult) though, so don't be disappointed in the ending. In the classical legends the real ending is so much worse.
