Assante played the lead solidly, and the subject matter was not as heavy as I was expecting - good - but still got the point across of the type of men these were, and what the world around them was like(to an extent)during their lives. 4.5/5
"God is dead".. The moment I heard those words come out [along with his philosophy behind it] automatically made me love this film. (Hence my name) One and foremost, Friedrich Nietzsche is the best philosopher to ever exist. Now back to the movie. The acting in here was the best I've ever seen. Not a single moment could I tell if they were faking (though I knew it was a movie [which is a very good thing]). The actors were perfect in it. And all the symbolism in this movie is at its best. Why don't people hear about these movies more often questions me. 10/10
I had a good time watching this film - yes it is pretentious and obvious, but all the more hilarious for it - and who doesn't want to watch a bloke going through his mid-life crisis? I rather enjoyed Breuer consistently calling Freud, Sigi. Shame though that there was no mention of the fact that Nietzsche was in love with his sister, well, that would have broken the pretentiousness of it.
This is my 3rd attempt to watch this movie, the problem I have with it is the
spacing used between the dialogue takes, found myself getting distracted so much that by the time they got back to the subject matter I forgot what it was. Maybe I'm just not in the mood this week. Rated 4/5.
