I Really Tried, I Really Tried To Like But What A Disappointment!
I remember when I first seen the trailer for "WHITEOUT" and for some reason it really looked interesting to me and I really wanted to check it out.
This is when I really appreciate websites like this one!! What a HUGE disappointment this movie turned out to be. I mean, ridiculously disappointing!! From the special effects, the almost funny chase scenes, the acting was not bad but the script just made it look bad. And I mean this continued from beginning to end! I almost quit watching it but I stuck it out because I am a fan of Kate Beckinsale and her sexiness!! But my dear, stick with the "LYCANS"!!
2 out of 5, just for Kate's sexiness(almost)

her bandages switched hands
for a second. Trust me, look carefully and look at the switch from right to left! This is how ridiculous this movie is!!
The reason for "switch" of the bandage to the other hand is because the camara was facing a mirror. But I have seen instances of what you are talking about in other movies.
Look again, I new someone was going to say that. The bandages were on her right and than switch to the left. Don't think left or right or even mirror, just look at the bandages, that's all.
can I call auna the most inaccurate film reviewer I've ever read? Hey auna if you're looking for historic validity AVOID MOVIES AT ALL COSTS. As for the film, it was decent and suspenseful, kept you guessing till the end, the environment alone was enough to make it a bit scary, no one was safe, the story was an okay mystery, the action was well played, the acting was very good, 7/10 was too short, I like long films, the entire reason for watching a film is to be entertained, if I nit-picked every little detailed flaw that was wrong with a film like if some bottle of vodka had the right language on it or not, then I would most likely throw half my movie collection in the trash, the film makers know that by putting Kate in a film means that their target audience is going to be horny teenage males, so I'm sure the so-called "flaws" were intentional as not to insult the audiences intelligence, but make the film more generally acceptable by audiences.
doubt teens would go for this one..Kate is not in a bikini.If i wanted that then i would make some beach movie instead.No this movie is meant for people in their 30s.Teens are too busy with Miss Cyrus thesedays.What is the point of making a movie if you are not going to be accurate about it.If all movies were like that then i could understand but a lot of them are made accurately. It just shows you how lazy the writers/researchers are.
Despite the negetive comments, I decided to give this movie a watch. I thought the movie was OK. Lots of suspense, and had me wondering what was going on. 3/5
I ask why because I am still unsure why I put myself through something like that when I knew it would be terrible. This movie was outlandish. It was so unrealistic when it was clearly trying to be realistic. It was also predictable and the acting was not that good either. Can't wait to not watch that directors next film.
You must watch some terrible movies. There are a whole lot of realistic movies. Also there are movies that are unrealistic that know they are, and then there are the ones who are trying to be realistic but dont use common sense and make it worse.
I don't see it - Sorry Guys. I mean Kate is Cute, but the most beautiful in the World, etc.etc.. No, don't see it. Gisele is hotter than her, Megan Fox-by far waayy HOTTER, Angela Jolie, I can go on and on.. Nope- can't see it!!

wow how did you come to that conclusion!! there are many woman in the world more beautiful then her -- megan fox, angelina jolie, catherine zeta jones, adriana lima, doutzen kroes to name but a very few kate beckinsale is down there at the bottom!! the VERY bottom!!
The fact that you pimply faced choir boys can't find anything to comment on other that how hot Kate is speaks volumns about the movie. In a word lame. She's was not that hot, bad ass or talented to carry this movie. Yawn..
worthy of the rating that we have given it on line. Not very good. Not bad but wait a few years and catch it on late night HBO when you are trying to stop the room from spinning after a night of drinking heavy. You will still guess the ending.
Lots of inaccuracies in an already weak themed movies..wrong russian pilot uniforms(even the spoken russian is corny),wrong vodka labels (Real Russian vodka sold in russia and territories do not have english on it especially in 40 50s).What does UN have to do there when the place is taken care by an International oversight board ATC .Anyway the flashbacks are annoying and pointless. Kate without gloves in the cold for nearly five minutes should have had her whole hand frozen off and not have gangrene on two fingers.Lots more to say but to comment it all..too long.Anyway can be watched once but writers should have made better research before scripting anything.
i really wasnt expecting much,and that was exactly what i got.just your average suspence/thriller mystery,not really that bad but not good either..i guess alright for a one time watch if you like these types,as i did manage to make it to the end..2.5/5
After months of waiting to see this film on a good quality copy, I must say that I was NOT disappointed, as this film lived up to all my expectations.
While the film is nothing new with regards to style and art form, it must be said that the film is very solid in time honored film production techniques.
This is without doubt no master peace; however it is a film of very good standards.
This film as far as I am concerned was able to produce enjoyment.
I can and do recommend this film to one and all.
To be honest I didn't enjoy it all, very slow & predictable. a mediocre by the numbers thriller .. seen it all before and done much better. Not even Kate Beckinsales beauty could make this watchable because she spends 97% of the movie covered up in 58 layers of unappealing winter clothing
Whiteout.. should have been blackout cause I literally blacked out (fell asleep) while watching this movie.
Not much of a mystery, no really big twists, suspense or surprises.
Just good actors and a good production.
Something was missing. It was kind of like ordering an expensive meal and you drop it on the floor while eating. Do you go for the five second rule and finish it or do you order another meal. I have no idea what I'm trying to say, only that something was missing in this movie.
I finally got to actually watch this movie. It was a decent movie. Worth watching at least once. Great cast, a little action thriller going on. 3 out of 5 stars for me.
